HT! Glad to hear that you are being active again. I suspect that also equates to more happiness!

High Traverse has been the best example of this community. That's an admirable thing and Mr. HT has always been a genuine guy with great things to say. Thanks for being a friendly welcome to me as I try to be more genuine and tolerant. I hope to shake your hand and say that to you in person someday. I'm glad that you're back. I'd say that everyone is glad.

Hey nita, I'm sorry about your friends' heart attacks. I trust they your friends are doing well.

Thanks for your concern. I'm stronger every day. I do monitored cardiac rehab exercise 3X week, do lots of serious hiking every weekend and watch my diet better. Aside from still being cautioned about climbing I'm doing very well.
In fact, the deck was stacked in my favor. My overall health was/is excellent and I have no remaining heart or arterial problems after two blocked cardiac arteries were replaced. The surgeon figures these had been slowly plugging all my life.

I've got a 72 year old close friend who's had bouts with cardiac surgery and twenty years later, stents. He's still active. He trekked to Everest Base Camp a couple of years ago. Modern Medicine really is remarkable when it comes to the heart.

Now if I can just get my cardiologist to give me clearance for climbing!!!
I've got to be very careful of injuring my still mending sternum. It was cut right down the middle and then the two halves wired back together.

Have your friends seriously mend their diets, take cholesterol control drugs if prescribed and LESSEN their stress. (stress has been proven to increase cholesterol). If they can get cardiac rehab they really should. Medicare covers it.

Fred, ..Great to hear positive health news.

My friends..
70 year old female and my next door neighbor. She had two stents, a aneurism with lots of blood clots and a 4 hour surgery..She is thankful to be alive..I know a vegan diet & exercise is no problem for her.

The guy i know is only 42, and had a massive heart attack..He was a heavy smoker, makes bad food choices and no exercise...his wife told me he quit smoking...but still fights her on what he wants to eat..

Scary stuff...
Thanks for the great info..I will pass it on.

HT (Hang Tough) - good for you for getting after it every time your doc gives you some more leash! Keep us posted on how it's going as it may be one of our turns next time.

hey there say, fred...

happy to see you hear, tonight...

thank you for the nice thank you... and kind note... :)

oh my, about the chest wired back:
an older man, a dear friend, that died so many years back, well,
he HAD this surgery, perhaps nearly the same, and i was out of state then...

well, when i got back, and he was sharing about it, he said:
"they cut me open, like a chicken"

(he was a little old fashioned man, mexican-american, and 'he said' he had
seen many a chicken cut open, in his day) ...

i was so very glad he survived through all that, as, i think,
he was in his 70's at that time... :O

keep getting well,in an easy, practical and strong way... :)
and best wishes to you and the family...

Hey Fred! It was great to meet you at IC and see how well you were bouncing back. Hopefully all is still good. I've just been noticing your absence on ST since the get together.

Hey Chris.
NO worries Myte!

Been busy (trip to Atlanta and back immediately after driving 2 days to get home).
We took a detour up through Castle Valley and touristed Castleton Tower and the Fisher Towers. Got home just in time to toss all the stuff out of the car, walk Oliver, steal 6 hours sleep and tear off to the airport to fly to Atlanta.
Working my buns off on a contract project.
I see my cardiologist next week and will twist her arm a bit let me get back to climbing.
Trying to keep from sticking to the SuperTopo tarball. Hugs to Patty. The PTs at cardiac rehab couldn't believe the weird interconnecting human relationships around my existence.
Sayonara till next time.
