LOL,
Good one Dean!
There's a restricted airspace north of J Tree that's used for air to air refueling. The tankers fly either in big circles or a racetrack oval pattern. There's also one over China lake and another one down by Yuma.

Yeah, weird especially if you don't travel and get out on the big roads much.
I've seen those big portable building with aggregate walls on trucks before; not that uncommon really.
I've always wondered why those offices/buildings needed two HVAC units.
You're welcome.

Because of all the electronics inside.
They are prefab telephone switches.

Could be an aircraft in a holding pattern
Yup.
Most likely a civilian airliner on hold. Less like a military operation. Military folks usually fly a racetrack pattern when in holding.

Naw. It's all done by autopilot. Put in a gentle bank and then it's hands-off.

Commercial pilots are taught to fly 'racetrack' holding patterns. It is highly unlikely they would
be doing so out in the middle of nowhere and less likely they would be making increasingly
tighter concentric circles. One reason for the racetrack pattern is that pax don't like being in a
constant bank. DMT is also right that it is cheaper to fly the racetrack, if marginally so. Yer
usually put into a holding pattern while you wait to be cleared for yer approach so a hold over
downtown Bumphuk makes no sense.
edit: LOCKER, STFU!. ;-)
