Recently I have become interested in exploring Canyon Country. So far, I have not gotten far off of the beaten path. Hoping to get back into the four corners this spring and getting off of the beaten path. Here are some favorites from one season out (you may recognize some).
Post up others that you have personally taken to get me excited and motivated.

Ok stuff down there if you don't have anything better to see.
It's all "catch & release" ruin, art, & artifact hunting.
It's the journey, not the destination that matters.

I have seen a variety of before and after photos of places like mesa verde that show the areas and ruins prior to rehabilitation. Until I did more research about the Wetherills and people like Earl Morris, I did not realize just how many ruins at major sites have been essentially propped up by man with new mortar and steel rods.
I do not know how I feel about it.
I also learned that the ball court at Wupatki outside Flagstaff is completely rebuilt by the NPS. Very anti-climactic to hear that at the end of the tour
Just observations...

Oh yea valley of fire is trip. I wonder what the story behind all of the art in the one canyon is about.
I have not explored much around valley of fire but I bet there are some other pretty fantastic things out there
