hey there say, chiloe... say, THAT, i think, is the episode that i was thinking of... thanks for sharing that...
AND THANKS for your area, update... :)

yeah, and we got something similar, but not as bad, one year... the worse thing, is that the long power outages... :(

say, here is an update link, for anyone that is needs or is curious:

http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/major-blizzard-to-shut-down-bo/41180972

my personal note, of the past situations, here:
i have found (other than trying to travel, wheww) that constant snow build up, without melt, in between, leads to huge piles of the stuff and
really NO where to put it, LOL...

for locals, in town, like me, trying to shovel out, can be a huge thing, though, wow, in the country, unless one is used to it,
they sure better be prepared, :O

OH, SAY, wow...
oh, say, i just got a phone call, right now:
she is in boston, and she said that:

the MASS. BAY TRAN. AUTHORITY,
or MBTA, WILL STOP all train and bus service, at midnight tonight,
and there will be none, tomorrow...

as from her spoken-report, to me, now, from the news in boston...

hmmm... she says it has not been done in years...
schools, yes, but not the MBTA...

they've called out the national guard, already so the streets
(plows etc) can be free to work ...

EDIT:
(boston daily, news blog, updates--on going)

http://www.bostonmagazine.com/news/blog/2015/01/26/blizzard-of-2015-snow-updates/

edit again:
hmm, blog does not seem to 'really' update, ??

Just now back inside ...4:20am 4-5 inches, blah ha ha ha I sneeze in your general direction
Blizzard 2015!
Heavy snow will come, but it is not here yet, just a thick blanket of white, not yet overwhelming,
Certainly not Snowmagedon, that is not yet!

darn the plough just ploughed through! We still do not have that much snow . . . .Yet!

Okay I am back from the ping pong of chasing the plough, the City workers are the overnight
heros who hump the main load.

It's funny watching the news guys now try to spin the ~9 inches into justification for panicking the Eastern seaboard....

Just heard a bobblehead on the radio say that if you were on a boat 300 miles off of Boston you'd have 4'-5' of snow. Lol.

I love how every snow storm gets a name now just like hurricanes. Everyone be scared!

That Connecticut gubnor is a real genius - he just lifted the statewide
travel ban. Body shop owners have been seen wildly celebrating and chanting

"I love how every snow storm gets a name now just like hurricanes. "

Yeah....when did that start happening?

There's a system moving through our area right now...it wasn't projected as anything close to this, but it was forecasted to be more significant than it has turned out to be.

Seems like weather forecasts in recent years have more of a record of over-estimating than underestimating these days. Or maybe I'm just tired of being disappointed?

They ran out of shovels.

The shovel factory is covered in snow.

There's no more hope for them without the shovel.

They will all become Popsicles.

Until the sun comes out tomorrow .......

In 1978... I was 3 years old and living in Vermont. There are a lot of photos of giant snow piles from that time. Sadly, Vermont does not get very much snow anymore. They haven't been able to hold XC ski races at my high school since the 80s (they go up the mountain now), have cancelled other XC ski events that used to run, and tiny little ski hills that in little towns could never, ever open again... (e.g. places like this -> http://www.nelsap.org/vt/highpond.html

But in general, when a Giant East Coast Blizzard hits the news, it misses Vermont. When Vermont gets a storm, it is ignored (because that storm is missing the Boston -> DC corridor).

Now I live in NZ. It doesn't snow in the cities.

hey there say, fear...

as to this--sadly true:

It's funny watching the news guys now try to spin the ~9 inches into justification for panicking the Eastern seaboard....

only, in my friends area, did they get about 20 inches... many places
did 'as usual' for such stuff, and not as bad as expected...

i have a radio station here, since i have no tv stations (in mich) and what i like so much better is NO OVER-DUMP of excitement 'for news attention'...

serious, but even keeled news, it seems to come from some public
broadcast system... the kind that has a variety of music, that changes hourly, or daily, for public support, etc...

years, back, when we lived in south texas, we got:
even keeled HURRICANE warning--get prepared,
and--even with hurricane andrew and about two others,
there was NEVER this 'modern news race' to make sure you out-do
the other news stations, for 'sensation'...

sure miss that, as, now, you never know WHAT to really expect as the
weather pushes through... :)

glad to see that the areas that did get hit bad, were ready for it though,
sure makes the roads easier for clearing and less
cars piled-up and stuck ... hopefully less cars piled-up from smash-ups, too...

the small white out in our area, days back, took up almost 100 cars, on the freeway/highway... :(

wow, glad to see too, that jim ewing, got his flight back, just in time to relax and not get canceled, :)

hope to see a few neat OUTDOORS pictures now, from this ol' blizzard, :)
should have some lovely stuff to see,
and not the city snow mess, which will soon enough turn
gray and dirty, :(

ps:
yeah, say, i always wondered, why do they give names, now, to the storms, ?
as, i thought this was only for hurricans, being that they 'come in like
ships' from sea, and 'dock' ... ;)

think they used to just say: storm or blizzard of 'whatever year' right?

cleo, thank you, nice to see the vermont info and the blizzard note, from 1978... and 'happy N.Z. to you' ...

I was so disappointed we did not get even the minimum 18" forecast for NYC. Still, the city was prepared for a lot more and life is returning to normal.

daisy snow, cute kitty run-out-snow, video...

good to see your update, thanks...

my boston friend, says it is still reporting snow, at 17.36" of snow...
MBTA (transpertation) will resume, sometime in the morning, for them,
in mass. parking and driving ban, will lift at midnight, though...

my friend in boston, she got a real kick out this,
and will gladly skip the 'popsicle' part, and bask in that
sun--which actually IS predicted for tomorrow, :))

Our Daisy on bus stop duty just before the storm.
Looking West,
The storm was nice not malevolent,
we were spared from snowmagedon,
The amount of snow was only 6 0r 7 inches
that is not impressive, so this shows looking up is better

14'' here in beautiful Warner NH.

Super light, easy to move, this would have been a dusting in Truckee (In years past).

Winters are getting light these days.
