hey there say... say, it may not be as bad, etc etc, as we do see 'over warns' but say:

it could be very bad... so if you want to share, updates, etc...

if it may help, etc...
or just to LET US KNOW how you are all fairing, i thought i'd put a
thread/post here for you all...

snow, has missed up in mich, many times, this year, and 'snuck under us'
into chicago and moved on into ohio...

i keep a watch though on the eastcoast, as, my boston-stamp fairy lives out there...

and i know a few climbers, too, as you all, also know them:

WELL, one year, it was REALLY GREAT just having riley share on the
hurricane, when i needed to see how folks-and-relatives, down there, were doing, and he shared a LOT of updates...

thus, i hope this HELPS, for updates
for the winter storm blowing in there for tue...

god bless hope you will all be well...
heard they are canceling AIRLINE flights, etc...

check it out...

here is some blizzard info to start with...

http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/major-blizzard-to-shut-down-bo/41180972

This could turn out to be the biggest storm of the winter for many areas in the Northeast and could rank among the greatest snowstorms in some communities.

Between one and two feet of snow is forecast to fall in New York City and Albany, New York; Hartford, New Haven and Stamford, Connecticut; Providence, Rhode Island; Boston, Worcester, Springfield and New Bedford, Massachusetts; Manchester, Concord and Portsmouth, New Hampshire; and Portland, Augusta and Bangor, Maine.

Snow amounts will even exceed two feet from north of New York City to central Massachusetts.

Strong winds howling during the storm will cause severe blowing and drifting with drifts in some communities measuring as high as 10 feet. Roofs may fail under the weight of such drifts.

I couldn't find a space in the underground garage this morning, so my getaway on a ski trip, is problematic.

But my Half Marathon went ok yesterday. Thank you for asking.

Two feet? That's nothing.

Anyone remember this one. It shut down the North East for three days.

You have to put it all into persepctive. Here in nyc, we've got the firepower to pretty well open everything up about 24 hours after the snow stops.

The Sanitation Department also handles the plowing. The garbage trucks are getting fitted with plows now the garbage will pile high. If the storm lasts long enough, they'll need some downtime after, so collection will accumulate.

Then the media will get photos of nyc drowning in its own filth and Sanitation will go on an increased schedule of overtime. We've got a new Far Left Mayor. I hope he does well.

oh, and I do remember the '96 storm. I was living in Brooklyn. Just too much snow. The homeowners, would throw it on the cars in the street. Someone would come, shovel out their car and throw it back on the sidewalk. The homeowner, would shovel it out again and the parking place would get unusable by cars. You own a car here, it gets like a chess game.

It's just snow folks... We'll shovel, it'll melt, etc....

The panic fueled by the media 24x7 frenzy is just crazy....

I think it was the guvnor of Connecticut who I just heard say,

"If you lose electrical power it will be out for a period of time."

Man, that's deep, and helpful. Thank you.

A more typical CT response would be to ban snow in excess of 8 inches.... I'm sure there's a bill being drawn up today and emergnecy certified into law without public hearings. For the children and all. You don't hate children do you?

Now for some pics we can all measure by
What you see here is a stump of wood cut into a chair,
This is just one of the nice nooks and crannies that the chipmonks and mousez use to shelter in & under, during storms. Iwish they would stay out of the engine, but of course that is some times warm. The stump chair, It is just under the Boydee feeder.

hey there say, all... wow, thanks for the fun shares... :)

fun photos from grome, too...

and the jogger run, :)

we been through our share of 'news overkill' too, hee hee...

snow folks, know though, and do very well,
i think it IS the city folks that really have a hard time of it...

i know folks in upper mich (UP) and it is far more worse for them, :))
when they have winter...

and, of course, we all know 'media hype' we have had it here, too, for mich, and wow, even worse, when hurricane season hit in south texas...

still, sure hope the folks on the east coast do well...
the worse is always the TRAFFIC and the highways...

or those stuck without power...

say, do any more of you all have notes from that one blizzard,
that was mentioned up thread... i know a gal that shared more on that,
by phone, once, too...
this one surely would not compare to that...

thanks again for chipping in...

hope tomorrow will be okay for folks...
:)

I remember the 1996 blizzard that ruppell mentioned!!!

We were supposed to drive from Vermont -> NJ to resume college that day - exam period was starting. But they closed the interstates for 3 days, so me and a girl I was carpooling with hung out at my house studying (she lived 3 hours north of me).

On the day the interstate opened, we left. I remember giant snow tunnels... and trying to make it to NJ to buy gas (it was cheaper). We made it... but I had forgotten about the gas, and we ran out on the interstate! This was quite scary because there was NO shoulder and NO median, just tunnels... and then a magic median turnaround just as the car had slowed to 20 mph. So we got out and proceeded to have a snowball fight on the median. We were eventually rescued by 5 giant plows that stopped - 5 guys hanging out over the hood pouring a bit of gas in all the right places.

"Frank, put your cigarette out you moron!" ... so he did (as they were pouring gas).

But anyway, we made it to campus, and I enjoyed cross-country skiing from my dorm to the library and engineering...

So glad I'm not there!

But have to admit that so long as one has warmth and food, a snowed in few days can be very nice.

hey there say, all... wow, i love the DMT note, there, :))

say, cleo, i have a friend, too that went through that blizzard, but she was a pre-teen at time... the piled snow, made a huge impression on her, as you can imagine...

we shall see how this goes, as, it one year, it seemed a
lot worse NOT having a blizzard, but just early snow fall, being that
the reports from the upper east coast was huge early snowfall
on still LEAFY TREES had brought down trees onto powerlines and all
kinds of vast power outages that they were unable to fix,
fast enough, due to the conditions...

EDIT:
oh, cleo, just found out from the friend, that it was the
1978 blizzard that she said was so bad...
did you, or were you, there in those areas, at THAT time, as well,
just wondering...

or, any other northeast folks??

Ice storm earlier this season killed our power for 4 days, not a disaster but it did get old. We're hoping not for a repeat.

Nary a flake in sight yet at our place, though.
