Well yeah!

Fred deserves that reward!
“The President's Gold Medal is given very rarely—this is the fourth time it has been given in the Club's 113-year history—for extraordinary accomplishments in the climbing world,”

And Ken Yager deserves his award:

The David R. Brower Award
Created in 1991, is an annual award recognizing leadership and commitment to preserving mountain regions worldwide. This year's awardee, Ken Yager, has shown dedication to the climbing environment exemplified by The Yosemite Facelift, which he has spearheaded for the past seven years.

and Jeff Lowe deserves his reward.

The Ad Carter Literary Award
Established to recognize excellence in alpine literature. This year's winner, Jeff Lowe is recognized for a life of contribution to climbing through the written word including his book The Ice Experience.

My apologies to other reward recipients. I just happen to know these three heros deserve their awards-----a lot!

Fred does know how to use email (in all caps :-) ).

Fred has been an AAC Honorary Member for a long time - normally that's the highest honor. I'm not sure what the Gold Award is. :-)

Werner, I was trying to embed a picture of the You Tube video in that post, but can't figure out how. Got any tips? Here's another video I shot of Fred.

Thanks, Clint. Maybe you can email me the info on how to do that (embed the You Tube image). I have hundreds and hundreds of videos of climbers from the late 1980s through to ... well, not done yet. I need to learn to use a computer. My pet Dorkie (Yorkshire terrier / dachshund) is typing this for me.......

Thanks, Peter.

But that 14-page feature in Mountain Review (1994) on Fred was (I hope you noticed) based on interviews with dozens of people. I just stuck all their words in a trash compactor and sent the compactor to Ed Douglas. He got it sorted on the other end. It wasn't exactly the Book of Kells, but it was passable.

By the way, Steve says hi:

So does Warren (seen here with one of the Bay City Rollers (that Roller who lives in Moab)).
