For the last two years we've been stopping for dinner at a little Mexican cafe in Tres Pinos. It's on the north side of town, on the east side of the highway, next to the one gas station there. I can't recall its name though.
I'm not a particular fan of Mexican food, but they've got fresh stuff (apparently an aunt provides fresh organic produce). They've got soup beans upon request instead of refried.
I enjoy it.
Whatcha gonna climb down there?

we'll post up... not sure... but a couple of old guys will be traipsing around looking for a good day, and I suspect we'll find it (we've got the guide book!)

Grillin' and Chillin' Alehouse in Hollister on McCray is good. Pub food. Craft brew if that's your thing.

We'd go to Mountain Mike's for a jalapeno and pineapple double cheese pizza. Good luck, Ed.

There have been Santa sightings at the Pinns. You may get to sit on his lap and rattle off your wish list.

Good places to eat in Hollister? That's like asking which routes at the Pinnacles don't have any loose rock?

Hey, quit dissing Hollister and the Pinnacles! I must admit, though, Ed, that most of my east side meals have been cooked in camp. I, too, enjoyed Mexican food at Tres Pinos, but I can't remember the name of the place, either.
Back when I was a plutocrat, though, I used to fantasize about a biathlon where I'd spend a day climbing in Pinnacles, and the night and next day at Ridgemark playing golf. Sad to say, my membership in the plutocracy got revoked a couple of decades ago, so it's been back to camping.

Go over to Los Banos to the Basque restaurant, Wool Growers. It's just a short jaunt. ;-) not!
Actually more seriously, I recall a good Mexican restaurant near El Teatro Campesino in San Juan Bautista. I don't remember the name.

Hollister? Couldn't say.
The 19th Hole in Tres Pinos is pretty alright though.
The short approach is great at the end of the day.

JEleazarian,
bhilden was only trying to be funny, he is a regular there (which probably you knew already?). His history climbing at Pinns goes back to the mid '70s.
You may not have known though that Bruce has also partnered with Clint Cummins at PInnacles to replace over 400 bolts there in the last ten years alone (not bad for two old guys). I wonder sometimes how many injuries their efforts have prevented.

For an adventure meal, catch a condor and BBQ it at one of the portable grills that families often trailer up to one of the east side parking lots. Watch out for the high lead levels, though. :-)
You know Clint, you're going straight to hell for that comment :)
