The recovery in the video is awesome. just making a move like that would put me in the hospital, whether I fell or not!

Was wondering if I should post this up, as its definitely not tele, and they are not exactly earning their own turns (heli and all). On the other hand, I like the backcountry stoke, and its cool to see African American riders from NYC in the Monashees, etc.

Hmmm,
That video was painful to watch.
But some folks embrace and promote ignorant gapers hyping their consumer experience for whatever reason. Whether they are selling something to the bevy of beaters, or just have more stoke than clue themselves. But, you know, nobody cares.
Waist deep here today for 6 hours. No fu cking snowboard sides slip rap sh#t. Just knee bombs and reggae all day, brah.

I would doubt you'd think I was a killjoy if you were skiing with me yesterday Flop.
It's great when anybody gets out, anytime, anywhere to push pow. Especially if it's something you don't get to do often.
I think I have a different definition of what "Soul" skiing is than what is shown in that vid.
When I watched it the things that stood out to me were the posing, the statement that sled skiing is "free", and the dude on a swallow tail board riding in what looked like 2" while rocking a selfie stick. IMHO, that mentality is the opposite of soul skiing.
When I think of soul skiing what comes to mind is Dave Johnstons solo car to car ski of Mount Sanford and his poem about coming back to greenery.
http://www.mtnclubak.org/layouts/layout_mca/files/documents/scree_select/jun84.pdf

Or Tall Mike and his lady split boarding their way from Jimbos backyard in Canada all the way back to Alaska, ripping lines along the way. No GoPay me, no Facepalm live updates, no self promotion.

Or my friend Chunk living off of roadkill moose and freezer burned salmon in the semi-remote mountains of Seldovia. Touring hard and skiing big runs everyday totally under the radar and on old beater gear.

But we all have different definitions of what soul is, probably colored by our own experiences.

Lots of beautiful days this season.

I will never forget Adi Yeorg telling us about ski instruction (Allan Bard etc) at Trapps....

"You boys, you can use all the words you know ... and more...

Ya sure, You had better trick them into doing it....much easier"!

He created subtle terrain features that would "force" (gently) the newbie to move their skis without them getting too mental.

Feeling it is the key.

Fuzzy, Adi would also tell his students, "Stop looking at your skis, they say the same thing every time, look up."
