(edit: thanks survival. I did try to use the video link as instructed but it didn't work. I got to the video from another link, and I think that creates a more complex code, which doesn't work in STs linking system. anyway here it is.)

Learn to use the video posting link. It's a matter of copying the URL after the = and in this case before the next =

Great topic by the way.

I hate the way America is broken sometimes. BUT, that being said, there have ALWAYS been money grubbing greedy entities in this country.

Part of what makes us great, eh?

Sad to say, I've seen similar situations here in California, particularly regarding registration of vehicles as planned non-operational. In cosmopolitan Clovis, it is illegal to leave a car in your driveway wtihout a valid, current, registration if the car can be seen from the street.

I ran across a case where a Clovis resident inherited a car (an old Cadillac "land yacht" whose body was in perfect condition, but whose engine was not operational) from his mother-in-law, and made the mistake of having it towed to his driveway. When he tried to have it registered in his name, he discovered that the registration was several years delinquent. At virtually the same time, he lost his job and suddenly could not afford to bring the resitration current (which the DMV required before giving a current non-op registration), or to take and store it some place that Clovis considered legal.

Both the State and the City started taking involuntary collection actions against him, which made it even more difficult for him to pay them. It wasn't physical imprisonment, but it sure became financial imprisonment. It took a Chapter 13 (that he would not have been able to afford had I not taken the case pro bono) to straighten out the mess.

Well, at least the scofflaws weren't shot.

On another note, Clovis trumps the state? Wow.

I had a similar situation in which I had to "prove" that I had filed a non-operational which DMV mis-handled. Took down a notarized affadavit which they wouldn't accept. I kid you not, with affadavit in hand I copied it word for word onto a DMV form and then had 'beg' a supervisor to accept it.

Perservance was key, they approved it and canceled the back fees.

https://homes.yahoo.com/news/103-old-texas-woman-fights-103043567.html

Some days it seems like there is just sh#t everywhere.

The story is a 103 year old woman took a reverse mortgage on her house. With a reverse mortgage you are still responsible for the insurance and the taxes. The lady forgot to pay for her insurance, She paid it as soon as she realized her mistake, but their is no leeway, which means she could lose her home to the bank because the bank has given her notice of foreclosure. Rat bastards. A reverse mortgage is supposed to help our elders. Not endanger them. When people get old, they forget things. Why don't we protect them, rather then endanger them? Why could it be part of a reverse mortgage that the mortgage pays the taxes and insurance automatically. And yes.. I understand that her family perhaps should have been watching out for her, But sometimes ones family is useless, and at 103, one can outlive their family.

Shame on this bank if they take this woman's home.
