I've been watching eclipses since I was a kid - my dad and I used to cast hand shadows on the moon - and the moon always turns red in the middle of it when you see it from the right place. But nobody ever called it a "blood" moon until recently. Where'd that come from? Native Americans?

Thanks Everyone, and most recently Gnome Ofthe Diabase. So involved with life and projects I nearly forgot about this thread.

And although this thread was not in my mind several nights ago, the desire for an evening of beauty was. Alone, house sitting in the spectacular wooded hills and mountains of CO I sat outside and watched the orb we call moon make it's wonderfully predictable, steady walk across a black sky, a night light unmatched by any other and one every child and grown up should take the time to experience often.

This blood moon reminded me of the luscious Palisade peach this area is famous for, round and golden with hints of tints which Gnome has captured with his lens. Appreciate your time, Gnome, giving us a reminder of the free beauty we have if we forget the indoor draw and step out for a moment.
