i too was appreciating myself this morning.
actually my esteem engaged in an altercation with my depression,
so i ripped off my shirt and went to work,
cleaning the water closet.
cause i'm rad.
i've been a janitor, so i can detail clean with the best.
i've been a bum, so i've tickled the belly of this monster called prosperity.
i've been a student, thus i've gathered highly marketable skills
that come in handy when my wife is ready to bail.
oh yea, i've been a husband, so i understand well, the social cocktail
that mixes humility with tons of responsibility.
i've been a daddy, too, of two beautiful girls,
so i'm comfortable around the vagina... not in that creepy kind of way...
no instead i can trouble-shoot, clean and defend if need be the beauties that accent women.
i've been a professional, so i nearly own my keep;
i've been a drunk, so i can crawl long distance in between blackouts.
i've been a christian, so i've glimpsed bigotry, hatred and hypocrisy;
i've been a mountaineer so i have fought for a spoonful of well-being while staving off fear, tears and the ultimate doubt.
i've been a tree hugger, but i still can't smoke pot;
i've been a logger, so i can strap a saddle on the old lady earth and ride her wily into oblivions;
i've been a teacher; thus my communication skills have been forged over hot coals;
a writer, too i am.
and melancholy at that. so i warp every blessing and opportunity into an immense struggle just north of disaster!
i fuking search, no matter what i'm doing.
i only will live to be 58 so i'm crapping on endurance for the sake
of reckless pace towards everything at once.
i've been alive. so i get suffering.
i've been dead. so i get suffering.
and most of all i've been extremely narcissistic my entire life...
