The recent situation in which health care workers have been subjected to mandatory quarantines after returning from helping with the Ebola outbreak in west Africa was impetus for me to introduce the following topic for debate.

Prosperity Abuse:

The willful misuse or disregard of leading edge technology, financial resources, medical advances, scientific data, and other assets or advantages available to those persons in positions of wealth and power in western society to knowingly advance their own political, and/or financial position at the expense of others who volunteer, dedicate themselves to, and otherwise make sacrifices for the benefit those in need, for the betterment of society, or for the preservation of our natural world and way of life.

Politicians would screw up a wet dream. What else is new? Talking about it just depresses me. Are you aware of the national debt numbers?

Prosperity abuse indeed. I heard the other day that if every man woman and child in the US sold everything they possess, there still would not be enough to pay it off. Each taxpayer now owes $153,000, although that number is still growing by the second. I remember getting all yoinked about $40,000 when Bush was in. We plan on borrowing our way to prosperity, and never will we need to pay it back. Discuss.

I am sure media outlets are in absolute histrionics over the ebola "epidemic". I wouldn't know,

Hard to argue with logic like that!

The seflish, entitled millennial nurse in Maine (who almost certainly doesn't have Ebola) actually served a useful public service, in that she gave the authorities a "dry run" as to how to deal with these pests (doctors and nurses who run around Ebola infested countries and then want to go bowling and what not in the US, without following quarantine orders).

By the way, if anyone is actually following the story of the Maine nurse, you'd know the governor is actually trying to help her by assigning a state police officer to protect her--if a cop wasn't there, she'd probably have been lynched by now.

Prosperity abuse = Having a couple extra billion you have to do something with.. so you buy commodoties futures and inflate my food and fuel bill. Or if really extravagant you buy congress and screw up government for the people

There is such a thing as too much money. I mean after the first 50Million or so what the hell can you do with it for yourself or your family? Granted some of those folks try to do some good with it. Most just hire an investment team cause they are too busy to really use the money properly.

Hey tioga, the judge in Maine ruled in favor of the nurse, and says the public policy will be mandated by science, not fear.

Congratulations to science and sense,.....again......

Changing the shape of this conversation to suit myself...

"Prosperity Abuse:

That very closely matches my understanding of the american dream.

Am I in an abusive relationship and don't even realize it?

There is of course another type of prosperity abuse. Those who do not take advantage of the incredible opportunities available in their society to become knowledgeable and positive members.

Tioga being a good example.

American culture is so overeactionary. Both sides. People think we all going to die, and others think its just another day in paradise.

I mean look at Tioga. He oozes with pridictable overdramatic americanism.

Everyone has to die that drives a SUV blah blah blah hang up the facebook and go catch a sunbeam bro!
