Having never been above sickle, I am a true big wall theorist. However, I love hearing big wall stories.
Any cool stories about this route? Never seems to get mentioned but it is a striking line.

A theorist would at least have the ability to look at a topo and realize that sickle ledge has nothing to do with the real nose, so this thread was started by a big wall...?

Sorry kids, should have searched for the competitive edge...

J-tree, why are you such a d#@&%e? You keep popping up on these big wall threads but you never contribute anything... if you have done this route (or any other notable ones, please share, otherwise STFU)

Personal attacks aside, I'm just gonna keep leaving links to el cap threads here.

Lol, so you realize you should have searched before making us search for you THEN you make another statement that's just as easily searched?

I'll help,
Click on the poster's hyperlinked name next to their post
Click on the tab that says "Trip Reports"
Once you're done with that pop on over to the tab that says "Forum Posts"
Easy for you to do on me and easy for me to do on you...

And the search function on supertopo is atrocious. Better to use google with the following search strings
"Real nose" site:www.supertopo.com

You'll get better results that will take you directly to the posts you want, even in the middle of huge threads about other things.

Ljohnson- Are you finding the stories that you were initially looking for or is there some other aspect of this route that you are curious about?

j-tree,

I don't see the harm in Ljohnson's request even if, as you say, he could have done a search and discovered the threads that LilaBiene, Biotch and matty pointed out.

I see this often on internet forums where someone is chastised for asking a question or attempting to start a conversation about a specific topic that has been covered before.

Because of this thread I was able to check out the links posted by Biotch and matty to a couple interesting threads that I otherwise might never have seen.

Oh there's no harm at all. I do lament the lack of responsibility people take for their own desired information. I see posts that are "help me with this general topic" which leads to people fighting about what the OP is asking for or what level of information the OP wants or why the OP even wants it.

All of it is incredibly inefficient when the OP can just as easily take responsibility for helping other to help them by explaining what they've already found and how that helped or didn't help their desired issue.

People don't do this because instead of reacting to a charge of "do some research" with a response of "oh, I can see how that would have not only helped those helping me, but would help myself as well" they respond with "tell ME to do research!?! how dare you! I ask the questions, YOU do the work!"

As for finding old threads that you may have missed and learning new things? Drilling down into the past threads of a forum will yield the same result and then you don't need to wait for some random person to have a question. I've never understood why clicking past the 2 or 3 most recent pages of this site is so scary. I routinely dig down into the various climbing forums I frequent in search of bigwall stories and beta and technique. Some call it digging, others call it research; I do it with everything that interests me.
