Thanks for giving me the head's up, Dwain. I'm in Yosemite with no cell coverage, but I have since talked with all the important people.
I'll make a formal announcement later, but for the moment, I regret to inform everyone that the great Richard Harrison, original So Cal hardman, developer of Red Rocks and countless other areas, has passed on. He was a living example of the old trad ethic for an entire generation of climbers, always with a low-key, uncompromising way.
Back in high school we'd read long passages of Herman Buhl's "Lonely Challenge," out loud down in his basement. There were great times, now lost forever.
