I was so stoked for Tony M. yesterday, to be so close yet so far 3 times, and then get it!!!
Close one at the end today.
Did you see how much faster Peter S. was going that Andre G. at the end? Bad timing though, he got boxed in just at the critical moment.

Thinking about those long flattish stages with a sprint finish reminds me of what a friend once said about NBA basketball games: "Why don't they just give each team 100 points and then play for one minute?"
At least it looks like the race organizers have woken up to the fact that a lot of people find those stages boring, and this year have tried to include more stages that can impact the GC.

I'm no doctor, but it looks like Martin just broke his collarbone.

Massive Armstrong hangover going on.....only 3 Americans among 198 starters.
What does this have to do with anything? This is not about America or Lance.

Please never post about the day's stage again, until later in the evening.
How about you just don't read this thread till you've watched the stage in the evening, and let the rest of us post as we wish. We are all interested in sharing the news of the day's race, and if you don't want to know it, don't click it.
Has there been any news about Martin's collarbone yet? That arm posture is sure typical of a broken collarbone, and if that's the case, he's out.

According to The Guardian:
He left for hospital for x-rays almost immediately and later took to Twitter to confirm a fractured collarbone.
“Collarbone is broken. We will discuss further steps,” he wrote.

Tony's out...
All this crashing is getting a little ridiculous. Understand the weather aspects and all, but its getting so the odds of actually being able to finish a race are going to hell.

No, he's out for sure. See the statement from the doc, below. But even if the frx was just a simple clean break, he'd be out anyway. You just can't pull or push with an arm below a broken collarbone.
“Unfortunately, the collarbone is a lateral fracture,” team doctor Helge Riepenhof said. “The collarbone is in lots of pieces, so it was a major impact. One of the pieces came through the skin, which means it’s an open fracture. Therefore, even if it was Tony’s [Martin] wish to start tomorrow, I have to say he is not allowed to. Riders always want to race. Tony especially. He’s shown in the last years that even with broken bones that he will race if possible. But this is a medical situation where this is impossible. He needs surgery straight away, and that is why we are going to the hospital now. We will fix the collarbone there. He is already on antibiotics. It’s a serious injury, and that is why we can’t risk anything and why he cannot be at the start tomorrow.”

Jus' sayin'...
I wonder if he had a complete break. Or more of a crack or greenstick type fracture.
I broke my collarbone in a bike crash about 25 years ago, and have no idea how anyone could pull hard on handlebars in that situation. Mind you, I had some other damage, but it was the collarbone that said "NO!" when I tried to ride.

Article just says "with a double fracture of his right collarbone."
I would expect just about any way you slice it, having it busted in any way would have to hurt HUGE.
Later in the article it talks about some dude claiming the supposed break was a PR stunt, but they published the X-rays in the paper, so I'm thinking that put it to bed.
Tough guy... to say the least.

The Tour de France the extreme Dream of every kids who ever road a bike too far in one direction and had to try to peddle back it sucked more if the bike was borrowed and you had to return it and then drag azzback home,on foot.
