That's not at all what Grisham said - you are grossly misrepresenting his statements.

Perhaps you could quote him accurately in your future posts, then outline what, exactly, you disagree with.

Here's an interesting question - if the FBI were to set up a sting operation offering completely virtual (ie, no real actors involved) child porn videos, would that be an acceptable government action? Such action is not only possible, but easy nowadays.

Furthermore, should citizens go to prison for merely clicking on such a CGI porn site? How can the government know where such viewing is accidental or intentional? Are we comfortable with a government that hosts the very types of videos that it is willing to put people in prison for viewing? Personally, I find that particularly detail not a little disturbing both legally and morally. Is such private 'thought crime' (certainly the case in regarding CGI porn where no real actors were involved) the government's problem to solve? If so, why? And if so, is prison the most effective 'solution' to reduce harm? What is the harm the government is trying to prevent in such a case? More generally, are we comfortable with a government that monitors all of our digital communications, all the time? Finally, would limited law enforcement resources be better spent preventing violent, civil rights (our huge problem with human trafficking, for example) or high impact financial crimes than going after thought criminals?

These are the types of questions Grisham was addressing. They are salient questions that require thorough, intelligent consideration. Asking them certainly does not condone nor brush off the damage done by child abuse.

Grossly inaccurate and substantially manufactured posts such as the one above serve no one well - neither those who seek to end the problem of child abuse, nor its victims. They lead to no productive discussion of a very real and pressing issue - real children being abused by real adults.
