As always I live the Facelift vicariously through these photos and the sharing between you all...one of these days I'll make it.

The Friends of the Ferns bring you...the forest approach to YPCG.
The Flying Flag Foundation brings you...the prayers of the faithful campers.
H and I carefully counted pennants. Twenty-two of them.

Lotta pics to post, I'll get to it. But a shout out to Anders who won the super duper volunteer award for FaceLift. Does that mean he and John Stannard are in a FaceOff next year? (Assuming it was the same award John has won for several years.)

Susan

edit: I'm real interested to find out if Mr. E and Skip got any pics of the old encampment they found (I think on the Falls trail?). Skip gave me the lowdown on a very old encampment they encountered not too far off the trail that even the Park Service was not aware of. Guesstimating it from the 30s she thought.

1. Absolutely great Facelift. And Simon Verske's T-shirts are beyond superb. I got a few to be thrown out to the kids at JT's Halloween event after our Grabber competition in October.

2. It is Leo Burke in that photo, not me.

3. Met a new Facelifter, Zack Peterborough. with unending energy and we took out 100# of toilet paper the last two days.

4. No competition over Facelift awards. Those awards frankly belong to everyone.

5. Finally, seven years after the clean-ups of Rt.120 years ago, the turnouts on 120 are pretty badly trashed. Now that the NPS has put itself on the line by committing to Facelift as a model for its Volunteer Events nationwide, we don't know how to clean 120 and 140 while taking acceptable risk. (We were wild men back in 2006 and 2007. On 120 I had a tour bus make a blind pass on a dump truck, right where I was standing. I found it exciting but the NPS can't accept that.)

We have a neat problem to figure out before next September!

Jstan, We pasted you on 120 when we were leaving town...The place you were picking up trash looked quite hairball...Glad you survived to tell another story and grace us with your presence.

Good to see you ..though i never actually spoke with you this year..

Cheers..
nita.

Edit..We saw you about 15 minutes before the big down pour....We slowed way down.. because it was raining so hard we could barely see through our windshield.

Nita:

It was decidedly scary. Up near Crane Flat we ran into suddenly heavy rain, the RV's were sliding all over the place, and traffic was fast and furious. We were doing pullouts, but that heavy rain was unexpected. We exited the area right away.
