Sometimes, a topoe will suggest hauling directly from a higher anchor (from 13 to 15 at the top of Zodiac, for example), skipping a pitch. How do people manage this? Does one member descend to lower out the bag and rejugging the haul line after lowering out on the bag(!?!), or is it standard use some sort of fancy self-releasing (fifi) method for hanging the bags on the lower anchor (just don't be like Tommy!)?
What's the optimal solution here?

We did it for the last haul on the Muir by leaving the bag at that anchor,
then doing the traversing pitches, and finally we fixed both the lead
and haul lines above the bag. I went down on the lead line, tied the bag
on the haul line and released it.
My partner hauled it while I jugged back up on the lead line.

I was thinking of something like that. Should be fine as long as the final lower out isn't too brutal (or the second brings an extra line to lower out with).
Thanks, sounds like a plan!

Balance the pig on the sloping ledge, then take great care not to disturb it till you start hauling.
Guano ledge is a proving ground..
