sort of a socialism of ST then?

Ron, decent manners have nothing at all to do with socialism. Where did you get that?

Call it weak if ya like, but somehow it just seems pathetic to hang out and put up with it.

If you look at it the other way though, think about how many great things wouldn't have happened if people listened to their detractors instead of ignoring them.

Ummm Russ?

For instance, I could say that right now, a large portion of the Eldorado NF is burning , due to the fact it fell decadent and over stocked by NON treatment. And that its torching right now in an un-natural way due to those conditions. And that is 100% truth. BUT to those so opposed to "logging" it will be considered inflammatory and then abused, condemned and insulted. [Emphasis supplied]

I'm disappointed that not one of the previous posters commended Ron's superb pun.

If you view this as an extension of the climbing community, as I suppose is my approach, then maybe it gets to you. If you view it as just another online forum with no consequence, then it won't make a sh#t of difference to you.

it is an extension of the climbing community. Just not everyone treats it so, you're right. The ones who do are worth talking to. The one's who don't can go fvck themselves.

How many of you are now better off because of Supertopo?

I am for certain. The relationships i've formed in real life thanks to the taco are simply irreplaceable. I probably never would have met most of the Squamish pioneers were it not for this place, and the cali connections have been awesome.

Not to mention the three or four messages of encouragement every day when i was stuck in a hospital bed. I don't know if i could have kept the positive flame burning trough all the turmoil. I know it faded last winter.. Thanks to supertopo weege gave me a goal to climb with him in the valley this spring. Which motivated me to get off my feeling sorry butt and train!

If i didn't move it, i was gonna lose it. Thanks to all who helped keep me motivated!!

Yeah, I hope the pup comes through fine. It's always tough when a good dog is out of the game.

Start a thread burch! Lol

Jeebs of course everyone doesn't have to organize their schedules around the st social calendar. This is an extension of the climbing community, a small portion of as you have said.
All i meant was those who choose to troll the waters endlessly might not be worth jrig's time.. There are plenty who are.

I was gonna ask if you wanted to hook up on our way thru reno, but it's gonna be a super late one now..

This is what happens when you let Kiwis in. So ghey! This isn't Canada, nobody needs a frigging apology and a sincere gaze and handshake. You want cupping, go to Mountain Project. This is the place for a big , drunken, bully hug. (While we put a "kick me" sign on your back. ) Jebus' sincerity is nauseating. Colorado is the place for that sh#t, not Reno 911.

I'll miss Avery. I put some time into collecting those sheep jokes.

Good question!
I am for certain. The relationships i've formed in real life thanks to the taco are simply irreplaceable.

Big Mike nails it! Big! That's exactly how I feel!
New friends I've made directly, and friends of people, I've met here, many of whom have become important people in my life!

Here's an example. Several years ago, Ed Hartouni, Gary Carpenter ( both of whom I first met on the taco and with whom I've shared adventures of all sorts, all over the West since) and I climbed both sides of Gollum on the base of el cap. Ed wrote a tr about it and within hours we had responses from members of the 1973 FA team of the left side. Including Peter Haan, who I've met now several times in person and have become friends with.

None of that would likely have happened without the Taco. And that's just one little group of incidences. I have so many like that, I can't list them without fear of leaving someone out!

Not only that, but there are the people I have reconnected with, sometimes after decades.

Plus, there are certain kinds of questions I can get an answer to faster and more thoroughly here than anywhere. Watch for one soon seeking info about resurrecting files from iPods that take the coffee bath!

I've got a baby in the house. Anything beyond 9pm is super late. Especially to be immortalized into some live streaming TR thingamajig you got going, LOL!

Good luck on your trip, I imagine you're headed down 395? Probably a wise choice with all the smoke and fire on the 50 and 80.

Lol! Ya Jeebs.. Would be rad to meet you though. Maybe you could head up to the leap this weekend? We're staying in strawberry.

You are exactly right about our route. I wanted to avoid any necessary delays. It's still been pretty smokey up arturas way tho! We just drove by goose lake, it was a giant dust plain!

Thanks Jaybro. Hope to meet you one of these trips.
