Our trip was in the last days of the pre-digital age, so our picture-taking was rationed. On the other hand, there was hardly a bad picture in any roll.

Cape Reinga, far North NZ where the vast Pacific Ocean meets the nasty Tasman sea. 100 years after Tasman ventured this way, in a hurricane and on the same evening, the British Captain Cook and the French Captain Surville passed each other. Neither vessel had any clue that there was another ship in the area as they were the first since Tasman!

Awesome place, serious Maori history here and one of our fav area in NZ to explore and hike. A must visit every year.

Thanks Guido, your pics are valuable because their not the usual climbing related stuff. I can only hope you've got more.

Many thanks Trad, my pics are like yours, 90% pre-digital. For me, film has the better look, but you know what they say about technology....
Great pic of Cook, very naturalistic.

Can't leave the Queen of the New Zealand Alps, Freda du Faur, unappreciated!
