Boy Found Safe After Amber Alert
Update 10:05pm: Mineral County Sheriff Tante has told KOLO that at 8:25 pm, a citizen called Mineral County Sheriff's dispatch stating they were following the suspect's vehicle in the area near Walker Lake.
Mineral County Sheriff's Sergeant Perry and Deputy Fortier then initiated a high risk traffic stop on the vehicle near Hawthorne. Police say the suspect resisted arrest, and officers used force to subdue her.
Police found a plastic toy handgun in the car which Sheriff Tante described as "realistic looking." The suspect is awaiting extradition in Mineral County Jail on child abduction charges, and local charges may be pending.
edit - Greg, I know nothing about this personally, but looks like the daughter of the owner of Schat's, from the link in the OP.

I'm confused. There's a Mammoth Schat's bakery owned by Shea, the divorced wife of the Bishop Schat's "bakkery" guy.
Their offspring is the perp I'm guessing.

Welp, one more reason not to go in there. It's bad enough you'll likely catch SARS.
I feel like if they wanted to release a deadly virus like in 12 monkeys they would do it in Schats while it's chock full of fugly Euro tourists.

Really says something about the state of Eastside journalism these days. The first real news story in ages and both the Sheet and the Inyo Register have absolutely zilch on their respective sites. Pretty sad.

The new Schat's Roadhouse in Bishop is pretty dang good with fantastic service and food. Too bad to hear about the sketchy history of the family but I'll be returning to the Roadhouse fo sho next time in town.
