Nothing wrong Captain but could you please pass the bail bucket.

It's getting a little damp up in here.

Ok now you can start to worry.

email correspondence from my old partner Jim Shirley, who is now back at his office in NASAdena.

Thanks for the pics. Here are two from the trip I completed last Saturday. The rubble pile in the background is Mt. Langley, which I think is the southernmost 14,000 ‘ peak in the Sierras. This is from a ridge looking over the “old” Army Pass (gully in foreground).

I went with a young guy (34) who runs marathons and was ridiculously fit. The goal was to get into the Miter basin, which is a glacial valley above timberline surrounded by high granite peaks, with several branches and many lakes. It is east of Langley and southwest of Whitney. [see second attached photo, which does not do it justice].

While I managed the trip, I am still pretty thrashed by it. I took a fall crossing a stream, and bruised a rib, which set off muscle spasms in other parts of my back. I can just about breathe ok now. I conclude that I can’t manage a lot of cross country like I used to, dancing and jumping from rock to rock....

My partner Corey went off on the third day and covered about 12 miles climbing Whitney from the back side. He got into a few situations involving exposed climbing and down-climbing. Anyway, when it was done he was nearly as thrashed as I was/am. Ha!

Sorry about your daypack. This stuff happens. One kid crashed our van, that was fun. Way too much teenage drama at home now.

Ok picture it, the early 1490s, and some Italian dude spending other people's money thinks he found a short-cut to India. That's pretty Next Level-ish.
