Personally, I have no problem with banning things that, in my opinion, fall into the stupid outdoor tricks department, and arch-swinging is one of them for sure. But trying to distinguish between arch-swinging and climbing, for instance, is not all that easy a proposition. in my opinion, atv's should not be allowed on blm land. neither should guns. but i do have a problem banning things based on my opinion, cause it's not just my land.
the impact from climbing and rope swinging activities is negligible. my first climb was at the age of 48. before then i never once saw or noticed a bolt or set of anchors and i spent a huge amount of time outdoors.

From the linked article in the previous post
Baird has done all of the logistics and setup for 10 videos by Devin SuperTramp, a Youtube movie sensation who went viral in February 2012 with an arousing video of kids freefalling on a 150-foot rope swing from Moab’s Corona Arch. They’ve been hired by Hershey’s, Nitro Circus, The Travel Channel, Ford and even Mountain Dew to execute wild commercials in the great outdoors. Baird has locked down sponsorships with Vooray clothing and Reebok to fund the gear and production costs for their bizarre stunts. Are the sponsors obligated to indemnify the parents/families/survivors of the fatalities?
Doesn't commercial exploitation of National Parks/national forests require a permit?
My sincere condolences to the friends/family of the deceased. No one should lose a family member, especially a child, to carelessness.
At least when Honnold danced up the tower for the credit card commercial he was on belay. And on really easy ground for him. Risk of serious accident, small. Risk of fatality nearly nil.

I liked Charlie D's human catapult idea.
Which gave me the idea:
Why not resurrect the old Hurricane Mesa rocket sled? Rent it out to irresponsible ad agencies for $10,000 per hour, minimum 5 hours, Insurance extra.
Catapult these Morons off the 1500 foot high mesa at 1800 mph with a wing suit.
The GoPro video would look great in a Ford commercial.
Cost of body recovery paid by the customer.
