So how many of you guys voted?

I heard they were going to, but there weren't any ballot initiatives about running guns or crystal meth, so they skipped it.

Great to meet and chat with various Tacos at the slide show and at the crags. Nice job on the slide show JD - plenty of quality suffering shots! Red Rocks view about an hour before the slide show - Mt. Wilson at bottom center...

That pic of Burchey reading is hands down the funniest photo of the year here.

You mean this one?

I agree wholeheartedly!

Back home, it was loads of fun. After experiencing ST get togethers at COR and RR, i propose we set up a schedule of regular events that will allow people to meet personally, climb together, pass on knowledge and, best of all, tell tall tales around the campfire.
I am definetly going to organize one for IC next late April/early May. A good selection might be:
Fritz's late June COR event.
Spring Indian Creek.
Weston's fall RR meeting.
Having climbed at Shuteye Ridge i also think that it would be a good venue for those who are limited by travel.

Weston, next year I vote to move the event to early or mid October. I know you don't want to crowd the Facelift dates, but it's probably a different crowd. And by October the monsoons are usually done, there are more hours of daylight and the north facing cliffs can be perfect. When it's 100 degrees in LV, the climbing on BV is great.

OK!

Donini: per your suggestion, we are booked at COR Twin Sisters group site, nights of June 21- June 25 with checkout on Friday June 26. I'll start a thread on the subject one of these days.

I'm looking forward to seeing last years participants, and a few more folks that like to have fun, and are willing to attend without pets, politcal agendas, or small children.

Campsite size is limited to 30 people, and level tent sites are more limited than that.

Wow, great pics! Super majestic terrain out there.

And W.L. busts out Devin the Dude? Damn, I really missed out...

Thanks Darkmagnus! It was fun for sure! You should come next year!

How the heck did you get a shot of me smiling, Mike? That HAS to be photo shopped.

;) I think you were having fun Chris!
Too bad about your camera. The shots you did get were sweet! Thanks for posting up!

Super good to meet you too dude!

Sorry i missed you BrassNuts!

Scary at times. That guy asked me to come over for a coffee in the morning.

Ya.. Ya gotta watch out for that guy! Lol

Come on out dirtclaud!

I am definitely going to organize one for IC next late April/early May.

Sweet! Looking forward to that Jim. Let's nail down some dates so Sandra can arrange for some time off.

I like the Shuteye idea too. Lots of camping up there.

I'm cool with that. We'll just drive from there from the valley, and go through Reno on the way home. It would have to be that first week of October.

The sequence photos of Burch are on Black Track 5.9. Old (1973) Joe Herbst route in the Hidden Falls area of Willow Springs.

Thanks Redrocker! I'm trying to anchor into my memory these spots for future reference.

If Big Mike and Moose are up for those spots, I am too. :) Visiting Shuteye ridge and IC were on my list of things to do anyway. So is getting back to Vedauwoo and the Wind River Range. Might be a busy year so I better get working.

W.L.,

You are the Pieter Bruegel of climbing photography. I finally noticed that, alone and forgotten up in the corner of that shot of Chris and his shoes, there I am on Topless Twins, like Landscape with the Fall of Icarus.

Musee des Beaux Arts

W. H. Auden

About suffering they were never wrong,
The old Masters: how well they understood
Its human position: how it takes place
While someone else is eating or opening a window or just walking dully along;
How, when the aged are reverently, passionately waiting
For the miraculous birth, there always must be
Children who did not specially want it to happen, skating
On a pond at the edge of the wood:
They never forgot
That even the dreadful martyrdom must run its course
Anyhow in a corner, some untidy spot
Where the dogs go on with their doggy life and the torturer's horse
Scratches its innocent behind on a tree.

In Breughel's Icarus, for instance: how everything turns away
Quite leisurely from the disaster; the ploughman may
Have heard the splash, the forsaken cry,
But for him it was not an important failure; the sun shone
As it had to on the white legs disappearing into the green
Water, and the expensive delicate ship that must have seen
Something amazing, a boy falling out of the sky,
Had somewhere to get to and sailed calmly on.

Another event you might want to add to the "Supertopo Get Togethers" - which I think is an awesome idea - would be Woodfest, if it continues.

With the size of the community we have here, having annual get togethers is a great way to get to actually meet, climb and I think things like this make our "little" group even stronger.
