EDIT:
Austin Shedd is 5-feet 3-inches tall and weighs about 110 pounds. He has light brown hair, blue eyes and braces. He was last seen wearing a green hat.

Anyone who has seen Shedd should call the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks at (888) 677-2746.

He wasn't lost, he was just hanging with the trail crew! Glad it was just an adventure for him and he is okay.

I was up in Bishop this weekend taking my 11 yo on his first back country backpack trip. He usually likes to follow me when we hike, so I look back a lot, parents nightmare is losing your kid in the back country. This trip I talked him into leading, he looked back a lot at first, but it was gratifying to see him gain confidence leading. We both carried whistles, a new piece of gear for me, but cheap insurance.
