Your right on the money there Jebus H Bomz. A lot of Lord of the Rings was filmed in and around the areas in these pics.

What great looking conditions.

To answer Bruce's question earlier in the thread ... the southern Alps average about 6m to 7m of precip a year. The freezing level in winter can come down to sea level and daily variations in temp are quite wide so there tends to be have a good snow/ice building model.

I've climbed in Scotland and it's a totally different climate.
