Does anyone have land near the Sierras suitable for a climbers campground and adventure hostel?

has fattrad become a pinko-commie-liberal... and come back to the supertopo as "Flip Flop" the footware/unpardonable action by a right wing conservative party member...

I doubt it...

Now that you mention it, BITD I was introduced to the gentlemanly owner of Janie's Ranch by his engineering consultant; their plan was to transform the ramshackle assortment of mobile homes into an upscale resort.

Great business plan! Located just across the Nevada line, but on the “California side” of Montgomery Pass just a few miles NE of Benton, just imagine: hotel; spa; restaurant; gaming casino...and, legal prostitution.

“NEVADA - Land of Unlimited Recreation” was the former official signage at the state borders.

How many California telephone Yellow Pages include a “Brothels” section? Janie's used to take out a half page ad in the Inyo Register every fishing opener: “Welcome Fisherman!”

Alas, nothing came of this entrepreneurial proposition; Janie's closed shortly thereafter. Allegedly, the girls moved over to the Shady Lady, south of the Cottontail Ranch.

The trailers are still there. Just look for the spray-painted graffito “We're Closed – Beat It!”

But, seriously, not long ago a Conditional Use Permit app to repurpose an existing commercial property near South Main was unsuccessfully presented to the Bishop Planning Commission. I imagine its proponent will return eventually, since the market demand certainly exists here, and is a growing one.

Plenty of land on the Paiute Reservation, whose Native Americans are notoriously short hard wampum – both the DMV, and the Forest Service/BLM have built there in recent years.
