...is going to England?
I just read of this. My interest in cycling is less than in years past. I've watched the tour in person, and grew up in a road racing family, but given all the recent and not so recent debate over drugs, I'm following it with halfhearted interest.
But England? Why the change? Are the Brits that cycle oriented?
Also, looking forward to the Tour of Colorado, I might have to make the trip out there to visit my dad in Westminster around that time.

I had no idea.
No hate for England here, I was just surprised. I guess, upon further thought, that I shouldn't be surprised. Le Tour heads into Espana on a regular basis.

Tour de France 2012 winner, Bradley Wiggins, UK
Tour de France 2013 winner, Chris Froome, UK
If you look at the last two Olympic Games there have been quite a few golds for Team GB both for men and women so yes cycling is pretty big in the UK right now.

I think the Brits will turn out in large numbers to watch this, if the weather cooperates. Also, it should see some good racing on narrow, winding and undulating roads.

It's just the first 3 stages. They do that regularly. Sometimes they have stages in Belgium, sometimes they go to Germany for a few. Fun stuff. Looking forward to watching it every night!
A side note - we'll be thinking of Pat (Can't Say) as we watch, a cyclist extraordinaire...

Looking forward to this tour even though MOVISTAR has chosen not to race Nairo Quintana. After his convincing win in the Giro it looks like they are wisely pacing his career. I'm sure we'll see him in the Vuelta.

It really is the Greatest athletic event of the year all broadcast on Live TV
I largely agree. And the doping doesn't bother me all that much, as everyone suffers, doped or not

I love the sport, and the Tour de France is the highlight of the Year Amen Dr. F. I love the Tour. One day I actually hope to see some of it in person.
I don't really get the animosity demonstrated toward doping in cycling when society has turned a collective blind eye to doping/cheating in other sports.

Would like to see them race near the Highlands,up north,make them suffer through some Scottish weather.

Quite the false statement . . . most of today's top riders are quite humble and respectful. Ego will not get your body through the Tour . . . it is a gruelfest. You don't know what your yammering about fool.
