Very nice. I really feel for her losing her mate. But based on the video, she seems to have put it into a perspective that works for her. That's what matters most.

very nice. For some reason these days watching jumpers brings out the tears a little bit. I totally understand why you guys do it but I also understand intametly how final and ireversable early accidental death is. It is so, so much different than when our parents and grand parents complete their life cycles after liveing full lifes. When it goes wrong there is absolutly nothing you can say or do that will change what just happened and loseing a young person affects so many people.....

she nailed it: one jump (one climb) is not worth it... but climbing is worth it. the practice is bigger than one thing.
I just learned that a college friend of mine died while trail-running (fell, slipped down a cliff).

I would probably rather hit the ground doing something I love and be gone than be all alone at 87 years old in a hospital bed.
Why not live to be 87 years old surrounded by your friends and kids and grandkids?

Imagine being 87, maybe a bit slow, limited mobility, and you are at the bottom of crag, and then your great grand son or great grand daughter, maybe 9 years old, just sent a route, and they are bubbling over with fun.
Then right before you die, they tell you that they love you very much, and that you left them with a legacy of loving nature and adventure.
That might be even better than bottoming out doing something you love.

I think Steph's use of "all alone in a hospital bed" maybe reflects her choice to not have kids. So your picture of watching grand kids climbing is not her option.
