Sad but the journey of life is one that can never be predicted. It seems as if Jeff has embraced his new path in full, and it's influencing those around his as his choices in life always have.

Thank you Mal for posting that beautiful sensitive video.
I am conflicted deeply. On the one hand I am sitting here tears streaming down my face wishing there was something that could change this inevitability. On the other there is Jeff facing the prospects of a very limited future with the same strength, grace and dignity that he approached his remarkable game changing ascents with. Watching his body fail and wither day by day fills me with a profound sadness. But if I were to really be profound about it I would be feeling joy for Jeff to go with my gratitude of Jeff. He is facing death head on just as he did with life and he is once more showing us the enlightened path. And we, the tribe, should not forget Connie Self. She has heroically faced a struggle that you would wish on no-one. Loving compassionate and supportive she has been the rock of Gibraltar for Jeff. My respect and admiration for her is off the charts. I worry about the immense void she will face when that time arrives. Fortunately, just like with Jonny Copp's family, she is a member of a world wide clan of climbers, an extended family that knows how to reach out with compassionate support.
The Journey of Jeff's life is an epic tale with a still unwritten denouement. I know he wants to see his movie Metanoia through to completion and I hope he does. It will be one of the most iconic climbing related life stories ever told and an undying tribute to one of the greatest climbers to ever travel this mortal plane

I watched it this morning and was so transfixed between the before and after his medical problem started and then suddenly the video is over.

Me too, Werner. At least his life continues well past all predictions of doctors and he points the way for us in empirical fashion. It would be all too easy to let this unnamed disease win, maybe take the easy way out, as they say. But, no! Jeff is still going to Eldo in his wheelchair with a tube up his nose, chasing after his grandchildren and grunting out guttural phrasings dripping with a grandfather's love.
What a man.

There will be a tribute to Jeff Lowe at the Boulder High School Auditorium Tuesday June 24th.
It will quite likely be his last public appearance. The evening will show case the near to completed Metanoia as well as other Lowe movies and a cavalcade of climbing notables and luminaries. If there is any way at all for folks to get there I whole heartedly encourage them to do so. I will post links to the event information when it is finalized and released. I would also encourage anyone who wants to give Jeff a personal note to do so using his ST user account Jello. He will read them all and even if he can't respond to them all it will mean a great deal to him.
It would be nice if folks kept this bumped.

i was just reading how,
after a sponsored siege ascent of ama dablam,
jeff hadn't enough
so he rose early one morning
at the chimes of
'little ben'
and soloed the first
ascent of the south face.
i have sincere and deep respect for this man.
