Hey, Tacos:

My wife and I are headed out on a three week road trip, yo. Our first stop will be about 5 days at Shuteye (we're leaving in about a week). We've got the guide book, but I thought I'd tap the wealth of experience here in this forum. We climb mostly in the 5.7 to mid-5.10 range. Ideas on where we can maximize our access to great routes in that range? Of course we can move camp, but it would be nice to leave the rig parked for as long as possible before moving. We don't have 4x4, but do have a high clearance Tundra with pop-up camper.

Thanks for any wisdom and insight. School's almost out, and I'm about to bust a gut with joy!

Cheerz and beerz (doing a Sierra Nevada "Summerfest" right now, btw)

Shuteye is a little spread out, but so many good areas to visit. I think I'd go to grey dome area with the trailer for two days. You could leave the trailer there and visit Big Sleep for a day. Then take the Minarets rd to Grizzly Rd and go to Lost Eagle for a couple nights. Awesome creek a couple minutes from camp. Then I'd head for beasore and leave the trailer somewhere and head for High Eagle and/or 557s Dome. This is all kinda hard to explain, but feel free to email for more Beta. jross1838@gmail.

When you going I see about a week, but what dates?

Hey, this just in:

Thanks for the ideas. Nice to know about the creek. High Eagle and those other areas look soooo good. This will be our first time up there. As far as dates, we'll be leaving probably on the 17th, no later than the 18th of this month. After Shuteye, we'll visit friends in Sonoma county then head up the Hwy 50 corridor--Phantom Spires, the Leap, etc. Then we'll swing over and work our way down the East Side, spending most of our time in the Mammoth area, prolly Clark, Benton, Rock Creek. This trip we've got a cab-over pop-up on the Tundra, but this summer, provided we can sell camper and truck, we're switching over to a Tacoma and a folding A-frame trailer. We want to base camp and have a lighter, better gas mileage setup.

No problem, looks like Grizzly rd is still listed as closed, but I can't imagine it will still be by then. High Eagle has some of the easiest approaches too. You guys should have the place pretty much to yourselves.
