I think plutocracy is a more accurate term. Plutocracy is an oligarchy, but more specific type that says the government is ruled by the wealthy.
I'll call it either one, but I think we need to tighten up and standardize the language if there is any hope of impact.

The thing with oligarchy is that it is government by the few. By historical standards, there are probably more people involved in this government than any in history. Not by percentages, but straight numbers.
If you call it a plutocracy, rule by the rich and few, you get closer to identifying the true problems with the system.
