Hey all - A friend in Seattle suggested I check out the Gong Show Wall while I'm already down on the Eastside next week. From Mountain Project's images, it looks pretty nice--good mix of sport and trad routes in a pretty nice setting.

What's your experience there? Is it accessible yet? Got any pics to share?

Thanks!

I really like it. Gets morning sun. Never went this early in the season, though.

Some great low 10s there. My wife and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Approach will get you breathing hard, but is over before it gets bad. Then head up the road to Patricia Bowl for awesome trad and finish off with pie at Pie In The Sky Cafe!

I probably wouldn't go to Patricia Bowl in mid April. If you did, you would need an axe fer sure. And some puffyz. I am pretty sure you can eat pie year round, though.

Thanks, y'all! Any "must-do" routes?

And by the way, living at sea level means I'll probably be breathing hard accessing anything on the Eastside!

Hey, if any of you STers are gonna be at ORG, Clark, or Gong Show (next Wednesday through Sunday), look for these two characters, and introduce yourselves.

Gong Show wall is awesome, head to the right side to warm up, pretty much everything is top notch, and there are some great TR options after leading as well. Bring a 70m rope if you have it and watch rope ends. Depending on your lead comfort zone you'll probably want some supplemental pro on Sideshow (small nuts, a few aliens, and a 3-inch cam). Do Wages of Skin if you get a chance, cool crack on a slab, and it starts with the best overhung splitter offwidth you'll ever do… (you get up into the maw, then bust right on cool face holds and avoid it altogether!).

You'll frown at the bolted finger crack start to He She. But tap on the looks-like-bomber-granite left side of the dihedral with a hammer and the hollow thuds will give you pause.

Watch out it is a super high UV zone, and it can be hot - it's easy to cook up there when you think it'll be cool. Sunscreen is a must. Late afternoon when the sun leaves it can get cool quick.

Patricia Bowl is sweet, but it's an August type spot, even this year it'll be snowy…and if not the rock will be sub-freezing anyway.

FYI, I got almost to end of the road at Whitney Portal in my Prius in February. No climbing, just playing in the snow with the kids. Tons of car-sized boulders on the road though.

So I'd expect road access is pretty good up Rock Creek right now.
