My friend Ricardo from the local gym just climbed the Triple Direct on El Cap and apparently met Fabio while descending the East Ledges. Fabio and some other Italian had spent four days doing a trad ascent of the Salathea. Apparently this is for real, and photos are forthcoming. Who knew?

Fabio killed a goose with his face at Busch Gardens in 1999:
Fabio was attending the park's media event to help promote the new roller coaster. Unfortunately for the park, the timing could not have been worse.
According to a witness, the bird hit Fabio during the plummet down the first drop of 210 feet at a speed of up to 73 mph. Fabio returned to the station with blood all around his nose.
As a result, Fabio was taken from the park to the Williamsburg Community Hospital where he was treated and released for a minor cut.

The hair and the abs too:-)
But isn't Fabio a name like "Mike or Joe" in Italy. Could be another Fabio?

I used to see him every day for years, never talked with him, but I have to admit bumping into him on the East Ledges would be a lot weirder than seeing him around these parts.

Hmm. I have as much hair as he's got. It's growing out of my ears, nose, shoulders, and back.

From Mouse from Merced's posting... a friend of mine got the romance novel cover modeling gig when Fabio moved on to bigger and better things. He said it was pretty hard travelling all over NYC during the day to dress up and sit for the artist.
