Condolences to friends and family.
There seems to be a high number of accidents/fatalities in Utah over the last year. Be safe folks!!

If it were not dangerous, everyone would do it.

This guy took one for the team.

May you jump again in the next life.

i'm missing too, man.
the people, they look at me
and they see right thru me.

my wifey, she can't connect with me,
i'm too far removed from any presence
or being.

i ate shite and died,
and i'm just standing here.

i still fill shoes;
i still crank the handle
on my model a life;
i putter about,
and dream and drool,
but life as life should be is not mine.

fatality is by definition,
an accident.
a suicide is purposeful.
and life?
it's just a trickle-down death cycle.

i'm sorry for your sorrow, hank.

Agree with Coz, the Summer always comes at the cost of spring melt.

We are all human, these things are difficult to wrap our heads around. We are climbers and BASE jumpers here, flawed humans like everyone else. This sh#t will happen regardless of how we interpret it and we each have our ways of grasp it.

The long days of summer will bring peace and reflection, and if we can take something positive away from that, something about the preciousness of life and the vibrancy of a good friendship... well that's all we can really hope for.

The Larry should be safe, as he posted up on FB yesterday afternoon, and the young man in the article jumped on Friday. (?)

I have no idea who has passed away... my sincere condolences to family and friends of this young man.

No more fighting on this thread, please. No reason for it, esp when a life has been lost. We should be reaching out in support, not lashing out on one another.

Was out backcountry skiing with my son today. We do some stuff that some people think is risky, but we are well prepared. But sometimes stuff can happen and I would never get over it. Sometimes like when reading these threads continuing to teach him how to play in these areas seems less appealing than others. So sorry for those affected. Mike

Being as the news has been broached via people unable to hold off posting about it, it might be time to branch off another thread ... There are two folks here that we should be giving thoughts for. Don't want one being lost for another.

i apologize if my tribute was disrespectful.

you shouldn't leave us though, hank.
we f*#k up now and then,
though we shine other times.

i know that you don't have kids.
my kids kick me out of my bed,
take all my money,
take all my time,
talk sass to me,
crowd my relationship to with my wife,
and crowd my relationship with life.

sometimes i want to leave them.
though i don't, and i never will
because true kinship endures the uglies
so that when future hugs are needed,
all parties are present to give.

so consider us your kids.

f*#k man. it sounds like you're in a vice.
the hank that i've read about is hard to break,
so i know you've got it in you.

regards, and much respect to your deceased friends.

Very, very sorry to hear this. Particularly when it's apparently someone very close to one of ST's good voices.

Another poster said this earlier in the thread, this could be *my son* in a few short years. I can't even imagine and don't want to try. Now this same kind of tragedy has hit at least two other families and countless friends. 'Devastating' is too light of a word to describe what those affected are now going through. Lives scarred forever.

Why is this one really, really bad? What makes it worse than all others?

No disrespect to Hank at all. My sincere condolences to all the family and friends involved.

It hurts worst when it's close to home, but this doesn't diminish the badness that happens to others. They had family and friends too.

To Hank and the other folks who are devastated at the loss of their friends:
My sincere condolences for your losses. May you and the others who are grieving find comfort in each others love.

I too am amazed and dismayed when people seem to feel the need to post their personal commentary in these types of threads. Hank and others, I'm so sorry that your grief was compounded by that sh*t when you have the least defences against it. Thanks for sticking it out and staying here.

To those clueless people: If you really feel that your personal opinion is so important that the world just simply cannot get along without hearing it, just start another fuc&ing thread. How hard is it?

you really don't know what you're talking about phylp

anyway this thread was doing ok until you started calling people out again

i just wanted to know what it meant when someone said 'he took one for the team' and i got the usual bullshit from the usual people.

i certainly never meant any disrespect and at the time there was just the link to the moab article and the comment about the 'team'

but good luck with your policing of the internet

I'm not exactly sure anymore for whom this thread is intended, but for many of us "looking in" our hearts are aching for all that have recently been taken from this community of adventurers.
Very sad for everyone...tragic deaths seem to exponentially increase the emotional confusion in the aftermath...even for those removed from the close friends and family. A time for grace and assuming positive intentions as folks share their reactions.
Condolecences for family and friends and may peace and serenity soon find you again.

hey there say, my (i know i have not met you personaly, hank) dear friend 'hankster':

i am so very awful sad to hear and see this...
my deep condolences, as to this terrible loss... i have just seen this, just now this moment...

i am at loss for words... i know it seems 'like mear words', but it is all i can offer:
god bless, love, prayers, and anything i can do, for you and your wife, and the family of the deceased, at this awful time...

i am glad you did pull account... how else, can friends see and send out love... love is found in so many places...

*am a bit confused from all the post, was there another death, just before this? as in days? i have been off line...

if so, please accept my condolences, to that family as well...

The distance from the top of the cliff to the spot where Morroun's body was found was estimated at 400 feet.
"In the course of doing his aerial acrobatics, I don't think he gave himself enough time to get the canopy fully deployed."
