did you fall thru floor joists?
ahh man, that's painful.
just breathing, hurts.
even sex sucks.
when i built our home,
i started out by falling thru the floor joists
while gabbing on the cell phone.
i never got x-rays but i f*#ked myself up.
i gobbled anti-pains and kept it up,
i had to.
my wife was pregnant and we were essentially homeless
and she wanted a home birth so i kept swinging the hammer
as that growing belly chased me down my dream.
about 4 months in, the pain was mostly gone.

whoo 8 of them eh? That's a lot. I cracked 2 last month, hitting a tree skiing.
What everyone else said. Coughing, sneezing, you'll feel like your lungs have a hole in them. But you'll need to carefully get that crap up and out or you'll get pneumonia.
They're all interconnected so a stress in an uninjured place will hurt the injured place.
I had to sleep on my back. Sleep on my side, and I felt like I was being peeled from inside. I didn't go crazy on the Advils, but 4 of them and I felt great. Got down to 3 2 and none.
Good news is, only 6 weeks. Three weeks and I could run slowly. The running seemed to help, otherwise other parts of your body start to cramp up.

I've had 3 at a time (+ collarbone, scapula and punctured lung) so I sympathize.

GET A CAT SCAN FOR BLOOD CLOTS IN LUNGS!!!
My little accident in Eldo 4 years ago I broke 8 ribs, each in 2 places (16 total fractures) in addition to 2 cervical vertebrae cracked, a pneumothorax, and a severe concussion (was knocked out for 30 minutes). I went home after 3 days in the Hospital in Louisville, only to be called back for a CAT scan to check for any blood clots in the lungs. Yep; there were many small clots (life threatening condition), so readmitted to the hospital and out on an anticoagulant regimen. THAT fukking schitt nearly killed me by causing massive internal bleeding after I was again sent home. After the 3rd trip to the hospital, they finally "got it right," but only after sucking 3 liters of fluid outta my chest cavity!
BOTTOM LINE:
GET A CAT SCAN FOR BLOOD CLOTS IN LUNGS!!

BDC is right-get a CAT scan for clots.
I've managed to break my ribs on numerous occasions.
Worst was a digger at Crowders Mtn. in NC. Got all of 'em,and my spine as well. I'm better!
I would suggest trying to lay off the pills and go natural as much as is possible.

Just a practical note, re: broken ribs. (1) Don't sneeze; (2) don't laugh.
Keep a pillow close by, just in case you need to do either (1) or (2). Hold it firmly against your chest, and it will really help during the sneeze.
and (3). Seriously...get a cat scan, or at least a chest X-ray. Blood clots in the lungs have killed an awful lotta' people. If you didn't have a pneumothorax (punctured lung)you may just be fine...
