Hats off to Brian--gave me great beta on a place to stay while skiing in the area, and has put in his licks on the Bozeman stone/ice...

...much appreciation for being here!

Bump for Brian. Don't know him, but always enjoyed his contribution here. Anyone got a pic or a good story about him.

Brian is one of the good guys! He came up to our City of Rocks party a couple years back and was fun in camp, and then climbed all day.

I also respect his considerable knowledge of collectable climbing gear from the 70's and earlier.

Great source of good beta for COR! Great to hang with in camp, too.

Here's to Brian! I don't really know him, but his canyon and climbing knowledge seems vast and he is very generous with it!

Thanks.

Brian is a great guy, but his knowledge of the City is but a fraction of what he has to offer. The man's encyclopedic knowledge of cragging all over the world is the main attraction.

Brian, I'll never forget the flat of beer you "dumped" on us in Orpierre years ago. When you make it to Starigrad the first round is on me.

Isn't Brian from Montana? Seems to know so much about it, just like everyplace else. I think I followed him here to SuperTopo when it first started up, from some other climbing site now defunct. He always had the answers on some technique or piece of gear.

Brian hope to run into you maybe down at the City.

He mixes up a pretty mean ginger beer and bourbon mix I must say, leastwise he did the other night. Brian is now the proud owner of his first ever house, about five blocks from my own.

I don't know Brian, and he doesn't know me. I can think of at least three questions I have posed over the years, and have gotten advice and a cool response from Brian. No attitude or bullsht with him.

Would love to meet you someday Brian, share a beer, perhaps a belay.

Climb on. Wally

Brian has been a level headed knowledgeable source of information and
encouragement from oh so many years ago on rec.climbing, and probably
other venues as well.
A genuine plus.

Aw, shucks, you guys...

Yeah, Arne, I'm born and raised in Missoula. Skied Marshall, Snowbowl and Big Mountain in the mid 70's and on (but not until Bridger in 1980 did I really start to ski...4 season's passes in a row). Started climbing in Bozeman in the early 80's. Dad was a climber from the Pacific NW (still have his old gear).

I used to travel a fair bit for work, so, have climbed a number of places in the US. Still pickin' off Europe. Sicily, Malta, Turkey, Elbesandstein high on my must see list...

Steelmonkey...come visit! Should only take me a few years to dig out and sort the climbing literature...70 boxes...ugh...back still hurts... Put up floor-to-ceiling bookshelves on a wall in a room last weekend and its startin' to fill up...

Anyone need a set or 2 of mid 80's Summit magazine? I seem to have acquired some duplicates...ha ha...

Cheers!

I wish social media had been around when I climbed w/ Brian so that I could locate and post up some fine butt shots of him (seam gripped as I recall). I'd climb with Brian again any day if he'd climb with me. One of the best times I've had aid climbing, and a fine dinner with his friends in Springdale too. Good memories!

He even gave me a piggy back across the river 'cause there was no point in both of us freezing our feet off, and, well, it was easier for him to carry me than vice-versa.

If you ever want to know about the climbing in some obscure (or not) corner of the American West, Brian almost certainly has the beta.

Cheers to a fine fellow whether it be around the campfire or on the intardwebs He climbs everywhere and gives only the best beta across the smorgasbord of climbing topics yet never posts a parsimonious word. We need more like him around here.

And pip-pip, lad. Looking forward to crossing paths with you soon.
