Ron always takes the high road and isn't the first to be insulting or overtly offensive. I think he deserves the same honors when you talk to him, I hopefully don't come off as too much of a prick, though I vehemently disagree with a lot of his processes I respect him as a person.

What's the opposite of obsequious, because I don't give a fuk what anyone climbed or when... as long as they had fun doing it. And I certainly don't think emulating their accomplishments makes me any better of a person... I got over than by the time I was 15. For me, as soon as anyone's accomplishment gets elevated to anything beyond a good time on a cool chunk of rock it becomes another trite stroke fest. There are very few exceptions whose character transcends the spray they generate (AH and JB being obvious examples)... they are the Rodney Mullens of climbing.

Ron, write more trip reports. Current ones. Like go out and do something, take some photos, post them and write pithy sentences under them (if you can, HAHAHAHAHAHAH!) :D

Write up some old ones too (but sparingly).

Talk about climbing. Don't get all confrontational when someone challenges your conventional wisdom... its all rote anyway. We all know the ethical and stylistic issues of then and now, so its not like you're covering new ground to expound upon one style vs another.

Go find some cool bridges for me would ya? Take some photos, bridges don't exist without a viewer after all. How about some tractors, I know there are some there in the banana belt of Nevada. I love tractors.

Geology, now there is something I can sink my teeth into. Lots of geology there in your neck of the woods. How about a tour of the silver area tnat made Nevada a state (such as it is! hah!)?

Get out of your shop, go have an adventure then come and tell us about it!

These are just some (selfish) ideas for how to stay up there on your new road. There are plenty of others. They don't require anything of you other than being yourself and sharing part of it.

Avoiding confrontation puts you on your new road. But CONTENT, my friend, is what will KEEP YOU ON IT.

Cheers!

Well, GD, you might have a different impression of that if you hung out at the polititard threads on a regular basis- who 'starts it' is a pretty pointless chicken & egg argument, but Rong's ad hominems are just about as stoooopid as the rest of us.

That's just the way ST polititard Fight Club works.

I may be an old,dried-up moron, but my wife is beautiful, intelligent and still loves me even though I don't deserve it.

Ron always takes the high road and isn't the first to be insulting or overtly offensive.

This is simply not true. One example. He has used many different names for our President, none of which are his rightful name. Whether you voted for him or not, he is still our President and should be recognized properly. I didn't vote for, nor did I like President Bush, but I refered to him as President Bush. Maybe if Ron started addressing the President as President Obama, others will stop calling him Rong.

Making fun of Politicians, rather than each other, would seem to me to be the better reaction....

That is the high road. And, it can be funny as hell.

Nah, Locker. Not even close to a meltdown. Just persistent.

And in at least one respect, that ST definition definitely does not apply to me...

That tide already turned, Locker.

There's a great tendency to just gloss right past slimy sh#t here at ST, esp. if the protagonist ballcups jusssst the right people. Bleh.

Yeah hey, Ron... i can often get out after work for a couple hours if you like the sewer crag or washoe boulders. I know it aint exciting, but then around here ya dont get much kudos unless you send 14s or its an injury comeback tour. 5.3d just doesnt seem to enthrall the masses, ya know?
