I work, sleep and play on a two week cycle-- 3 nights in the ER clocking in at ~7:00 pm and out at ~7:30 am, then I'm off for 2 nights, then I'm at work again for 3 more 12 hour nights, but then I'm off for 6 nights. Repeat.

Whenever the customer needs me. But I charge extra before 8 am or after 5pm.

Usually I can schedule stuff between 9 am and 3 pm.

It's rough.

Retired. Whenever I get my arse on the bike or feet on the slope. 9 ish. Usually. If it's a gym and yoga day, more like 7. If at sea then it's all over the place (every 3 hours) to accommodate watches. On land alarm is set for 5:30.

what time do you clock in with the morning thunder?

you know, that methane that wants out every morning,

that high pressure gas that resonates thru the house like john bonham pounding on a kettle drum?

I've got the day off today due to snow. It's like being a kid again.

I didn't set the alarm. Slept through till six. I must be tired.

Now what the hell am I going to do with my day?

me too, brandon,
though i rip into consciousness at 3 am sharp.

it's grandeur, i've pushed out some rough schedule,
like 7 or 8 days in a row of ridiculously early starts
and long days, and now,
all i've in front of me is
a day cragging of cragging (yea, that's an echo)
with my friend paul
(who by the way is one of the most accomplished
climbers that i've ever met: tons of f.a.'s,
super bold, bolted on lead lines, climbed hard
cracks in the 70's, climbed 13d crack last year,
he's 54)
whoa.

i just went off on paul, sorry about that...

anyway, paul and i crag today, then tomorrow
is tele at the resort, then saturday i tidy up
the spread and on sunday we leave for santa cruz for a 6 day
jaunt devoid of cares.

cheers to well-earned downtime.

so bloated with elation am i,
that i mistook friday for a play day.
hah.
i've got a 120' oak tree that
leans out directly over a house to remove tomorrow.

my friend paul will be there as well.

both of us vie for the 'interesting' trees.

i wouldn't dare arm-wrestle him, though.
i might stand a chance in a wit-fight,
but only if i just hooked a strong black cup
or snuck a pull from the jack handle (shhhhh)
