I'm in SLC tonight celebrating the last night of the Outdoor Retailer Show.

Attended a great event last night, that celebrated Outdoor Industry achievers. Jeff Lowe won the Outdoor Inspiration Lifetime Achievement Award.

Kudos to Steve Grossman for donating a way cool LOWE Hummingbird axe to the silent auction and for being the man that handled most of the details of the silent auction, to Jim Donini for speaking & creating and donating photo collages of Jeff Lowe on Latok, John Long for attending and nearly winning one of the inspiration awards, and to all that helped with the event.

Timmy o'Neill hosted. This man can switch careers at any time and become a leading "stand-up comedian" of our time. Schist! He is a funny and fun to watch speaker!

It was a fun party and a great time!

Thank you!

Best wishes to Jeff & Connie!

I was honored to attend (and had fun)!

This award was long overdue. I hope it helped raise a lot of money for Jeff's movie too. Thanks to all the volunteers.

Dudes....you're all wanking over global meltdowns and guidebooks OR stupidly pontificating over politics, religion and global warming BUT when one of your own wins a prestigious well deserved award...you're fuking mute!

I am so glad Jeff is getting so much of the on-going support and recognition he has always and will continue to deserve.

Really looking forward to Metanoia, as well.

Glad he got his just desserts. As a no one, never has been, armchair climber, I think I'm qualified to say thanks for the jello. His posts are missed here, but glad that he has been keeping good company.

Jeff has been an inspiration for me since I got a copy of his book The Ice Experience as a freshman in high school. I read it cover to cover many times in my suburban NY bedroom. Memorizing various French climbing terms and ice techniques for various angles. I did not apply that for many years until I moved out west for college, but all that info stuck in my head.

Best wishes to a man who inspired us with his groundbreaking climbs and now inspires us with the grace with which he faces the challenges of his life now.

It seems like the award gets more prestige from having Jeff Lowe as a recipient, rather than Jeff getting more for receiving the award. Amazing human.

Jeff was unable to attend the award event due to a sudden worsening in his condition after his trip to Ouray. He was linked to the award ceremony via Skype for a very short time, and did not appear to be in great shape.

I talked with Connie the day after the award, after the silent auction ended, and she said Jeff was doing much better.

I couldn't say no to bidding on a couple items in the silent auction, that benifited Jeff & the Metanoia film project. I'm now the proud owner of original art by Jim Donini: A photo collage of Jeff Lowe on Latok 1.
