Yup sure is. Second pitch of Glass.

Ground fall first day rock climbing.

Cinch failed on my belayer and I went 25ft straight to the ground. I was working a stupid sport climb ;)

Glad I was only 25 ft up... eek!

Been taking notice of your Lake pics and exploits all season. Only now being couch bound did it seem like a good idea to create and account.

How long till you are back at it?

Thought it was Glass M. Maybe I will be in shape for it next season.

I am having my leg lengthened. 4-6 months out, I hope.
Sounds painful. I guess you're off for about 6 weeks? Luckily it was not worse.

Not sure partner said it just did not engage.

I am just glad it was not worse. If you look you can find all kinds of stuff on Cinch
failures on the internet. Some claim device failure some claim operator. Just glad I was only 25 ft up at the time and did not injure my spine or hit my head or something!

I was half way through a day of climbing and god knows it coulda happened much higher off the ground resulting in a much worse injury?

Still a broken heel and very injured second heel is nothing to shake a stick at. Could be a couple months recovery or it could be many months. My guess is at least 6-12 before I am back 100% if I am lucky enough to make a full recovery. From what I can tell it could go either way 50/50.

I know this, I will never use a Cinch again!

Anita,

How much of a leg length discrepacy did you have? I also have one but only about .5 inches I am told mine is fairly normal. Still I have all kinds of soft tissue damage in that foot/ leg from favoring it all the time.

You and I just may be looking at a very similar recovery time. Right now if I can just make a 100% recovery not gain more than 10lbs and be ready for ice season next year I'll be a happy happy man.?

Best to you and your recovery..

Did anyone post a pic of their colonoscopy yet? Oh wait, that would hopefully not be in the selfies thread.

I have a pic of my epidural and catheter bag, if anyone wants to see..

Sanskara: 3-4cm diff. Ankle is being straightened too which should help mobility and stuff like steep slopes when hiking. I too will be happy if I recover 100% and not gain any weight. I'm most worried about losing muscle tone/fitness and whatever crappy climbing ability I have.
If all goes well I could be ready for fall Gunks climbing. And if it takes longer, then I can hit the weights and be in shape for ice. Just going to be a lamo summer.

We should start a SuperTopo gimp support group.
I'm most bummed that I did not end my climbing at the lake. I will miss it!

Justin, you're cruel, but it wasn't as bad as that. But it was reeeely stoopid.
Since I have no shame here it is. I had a bad case of athlete's foot or
in my case patzer's foot. The usual remedies weren't doing it so since I
attempt to live my life logically I invoked Aristotle and constructed a
sylogistic remedy. My premise was that isopropyl alcohol is a good disinfectant
and antimicrobial agent. My second premise was that if a little is good
then a lot must be better. I put my foot in the bathrub and poured alcohol
all over it. Oooh, it stung! That's good, right? It didn't occur to me
that alcohol in that quantity could cause a chemical burn. The blisters
opened up and got infected. By the time I went to the ER the admitting
doc took one look and said, "You're not going anywhere, chump." They
thought it was MRSA at first which was good thing as they put me in isolation.
When they decided it wasn't MRSA they still kept me in isolation when they caught
me perusing SuperTopo. If I posted a picture I'd get banned so I'm
leaving it to yer collective imagination. It wasn't pretty.

Anita, glad it was successful. I just hope you thought this through. Now you'll know why everyone complains about sidehilling. :-)
