What a unique looking rock type. Gotta get there, love me some crack of all sizes...yeah go ahead.

Seemed like a lot of climbers...a weekend I hope.

Enter some type of signal jammer and watch those things come crashing out of the sky.

Chiloe - that sounds like a great project. I'm interested in how these can be used for fisheries management or studies.

Anyway, all sorts of problems with safety around people, and a lot of potential opening up some remote sensing possibilities very inexpensively, should be amazing to see what happens in the next 10 years.

We're working out how to do this "right," starting with landowner and Forest Service relations. Both groups can right away see some potentials, from finding lost cows to surveying conditions on their lands, including insect problems and possibly fire risk. Just having a 3D model of your landscape evokes a wow factor. The Forest Service rightly sees a concern in that they've got "a lot of aluminum in the air" and want to be sure they know where the UAVs are, can we keep them at low elevation etc. We also made a one-page handout for anyone who's interested, explaining who we are and what we're doing with those drones.

In addition to the hexacopter shown upthread, we tried out this unit which can cover more ground.

Unlike the hexacopter, the fixed-wing is peacefully quiet. Hard to see even when you're looking.

Ed, vedauwoo, or at least the rock, has been waiting 1.4 Billion years for you to come here NOW! Do t be a stranger, diesel is cheap!!

this year has been very strange, so I'm just rolling with it now... but I hope 1.4 Billion + 1 years still works out...

Good eye! In fact, one of them is. Here's the same guy somewhere else.

Gosh, I have not played there for 26 years, and the footage makes me want to pack my tent and take off south. Wow, I love that place. What superb memories!

Thank you many times for posting such a beautiful look at some beautiful rocks.

Ah, man...that was fantastic! Great job! Made me want to go back there so badly! Saw the belay ledge that Todd Skinner and I shared, his first time out after busting himself up on the Salathe (Amy was there, too), and the new route he bolted that day (Silver Salute - 13b).

What a unique and amazing place, and your aerial tour of the place--along with the music--was really excellent. Thanks!

Simply beautiful! Thanks.

Its inevitable at this point in the evolution of drones that
defensive capabilities other than speed will be built in.

Cowpoke might be touring with his rock band right now, or practicing for their next Wyoming gig. You never know with that guy. I'm sure he hasn't forgotten this thread and will check back when he can.
