"Maybe I won't be subjected to watching another damn hockey game ( which you can see every year, every day, from Halloween to the Fourth Of July ) tonight when I tune in to ( hopefully ) see the four-man bobsled race."

They wanted to end it this year, but the russians balked and said "we're bringing our nhl players, like it or not."

"SOUR GRAPES."

Hey Pete,

I've been rooting against the Americans, since about the first night watching the All-American, Wall-To-Wall Americans TV coverage we get here.

I watched the ladies bobsled race last week. Eight sleds were shown, six of them were American!

And then there's the endless: "Go For The Gold"..."We're Going For The Gold"..."We're here For The Gold"..."Get The Gold"..."Did you Get The Gold"..."You didn't Get The Gold"..."Why didn't you Get The Gold?"..."You were here For The Gold"..."You were Going For The Gold, weren't you?"..."It's too bad you didn't Get The Gold"..."Will you be Going For The Gold in '18?" Jesus! Bastante!

The Americans being shut out of ice hockey medals is the best thing that could have happened for me, the guy who is interested in seeing sports we only get a chance to watch once in four years.

If I want to see World Class Ice Hockey, I'll get liquored-up and hop the Metrolink down to Anaheim to watch these same Olympians play wearing Mighty Ducks and San Jose Sharks uniforms.

especially if the "best of the best" are getting their asses handed to them.

The "best of the best" would be Team Canada and they seem to be doing allright.

Chaz,
As I and others have pointed out earlier in the thread, there are plenty of options for viewing the Olympics besides what NBC shows during their prime time coverage. But I guess just bitching about stuff is all you want to do.

Banks, how are you watching it? I don't want to sign up for a years worth of satellite in order to be able to watch it over the internet.

I have no TV and I don't want one. I just wanted to watch this event and was hoping that there was a way.

John and others,
NBCSports Network, MSNBC, USA have shown the events live during the last two weeks. You can watch live online at NBCSports.com If you don't have cable/satellite, you can use the Google Chrome Hola extension which acts like a VPN(Virtual Private Network) and lets you access the CBC and BBC feeds. There are tons of sites that pirate the broadcasts and stream them live, Google is your friend for those.

So if Selanne retires this year, does that make him admissible for the next olympics?? ;)

Thanks Banks. I tried some of the pirate sites. the video and sound syncing is off, and the video is choppy, making watching speed sports difficult and not very enjoyable. That comes with not having the best dsl, and the feed coming from overseas. ( as I understand it ) NBC sports broadcast in america has a decent feed, but on some programs they have a 20 minute allowance and on others a 5 minute allowance. Then you have to delete your cookies and cache and start over. Not a very fun way to watch. I just wanted to pay a fee without signing up for a years worth of something that I wouldn't use and get a decent feed.

You're up early!

The most interesting part of the Olympics is done now. It was the curling.

I agree with the person who said it's an opportunity to watch not so common sports. Sports like football (soccer, that is) & ice hockey is rather boring.
