geminids peak tonight after the moon sets - 90-120 events an hour possible (actual number of events may vary, taco/pmb assume no liability if none are seen...)

Thanks for the heads up, Pagan. Got my warm coat out and ready to enjoy. Hope all is well with you. It was a treat to meet you at Face Lift few years back.

Peace and Joy this Holiday Season. Lynne

Get shots Mike. Thanks!

It's been overcast here for days, and will continue, so no meteor sitings for me. ;-(

Not wanting to get up at 3:00 am, we went out just after midnight . Still managed to see over 50 shooting stars in about 45 minutes. Not bad for the moon still high in the sky.........

Mike Bolte, Thanks!...

Miss L, ....Did you mean, great shots...

edit,
Ordinarily, they streak horizontally across the sky, but these appeared to fall straight down?
speelyei, we noticed that also...but we did see a couple of streakers.

Mike Bolte...LOL.....

I'm jealous! I went out at midnight too, but too much overcast to see anything, not to mention freezing cold with snow on the ground. It seems every time the Geminids are out, so are the clouds. The only time I've seen them was about 7-8 years ago when it was clear and warm enough in Okinawa to sit in the yard for several hours. It was a particularly good year and I saw several with fiery red balls on the end and long blue tails. I'll never forget the sight!

Nita - I hope I didn't misinterpret L's message, but after my third shot I can barely type. You think she meant flu shots? Maybe distemper?

EDIT: Ah, GREAT shots. Those bourbon shots did clear my throat. Thanks L...

"Miss L, ....Did you mean, great shots..."

LOL. It's funny how you think you're pretty good at letting your thoughts just flow from your fingertips, and then you see something like this...and not only do you have NO idea how it happened, but it destroys all your illusions about what you can actually do with a keyboard in the dark. ;-)

GREAT shots, Mike. Just GREAT!!!

(Thank you, Nita. ;-)

Edit: Mike...distemper shots...there are many on this forum that might benefit from some of those, but YOU aren't one of 'em! (Do you even have a temper? Doesn't seem like it.)

Hey Tom, saw some heavy action floating 60 miles out in the Gulf, unfortunately the photos turned out all blurry between the waves, mushrooms, and tequila.

Peak Geminids again tonight. Anyone watching?

I counted to 60+ and then decided it was getting cold out...
