The finest whisky I ever 'ad was in the wee pub at the foot of the Ben after a respectable day, if I do say so, of bog wallowing and thrutching on Tower Ridge. It was made right there so while it was a bit rough it had character and it was like going native.

One of the things I am most proud of (right behind the time Tami & I saved Canada from the French menace) is saving the US by participating in the defeat of the Scottish Armada.
It has taken many battles over the years -- most of which, for some reason, occurred on NFL and NBA playoff days -- and there are a few stragglers from the Armada that still need to be dealt with, but your country is now safe.
Well, safe from attack from the outside...

You mention stashing bottles?
My grandmother did not approve of my grandfather's drinking. They had a house with a big yard surrounded with tall hedges. His big thing was trimming the hedges. It turns out he had a bottle of pre mixed scotch and water hidden every 6 feet along the hedge. Clip clip glug glug.

From lowland to highland, burly to girly, light to dense single malt scotch has something for everyone. I like them all! But then, it's in me blood on me mother's side.

My grandfather was good at stashing and stockpiling booze. He was an MLA in the Saskatchewan legislature in the 20's and 30's so had advance warning on the upcoming prohibition. He responded by buying barrels and cases of (mostly) Scotch and rum.
Fast forward to the middle 30's when my uncle was a hobo riding the rails as there were no jobs in North Battleford. Sid found himself at home with a buddy one time and my grandfather casually mentioned that there may be a few cases remaining buried in the basement. The basement was mostly dirt with a furnace in the corner.
Sid and his friend spent a lot of time digging out the basement looking for the booze and never found a drop!
My grandmother disapproved of his drinking so he snuck more than a few snorts. His house was surrounded by hedges and his big thing was to spend hours trimming.
It turns out he had stashed premixed bottles of scotch and water every 6 feet along the hedge.
