We found it helpful to shuttle loads to the top of the rappels, then rappel once with heavy loads, and break the loads up again until you get the junk show down to the proper trail. At that point you can practically smell the manure pile, and 100 lbs loads are no longer seem intimidating.
Wimpy, but better than being further crushed, twisting and ankle, or slipping on the 3rd class crap with a pig on.

On the ground and so are the bags. Got them either to the ground and the last 2 I had help with today.
Ian gave me a hand. Sure made it doable and more fun.
Driving home now. I will pull over and take naps as needed.
Thanks all for the support. Esspecially MH, Fritz, and Mark Hudon.
Ian fit the bill and met all the requiremnets as posted by MH. Super cool guy and now I have a new friend.
This saga reminds me of a Mark Twight route called The Gift That Keeps on Giving.
When I got down I went to the Merced. Stripped down to the bare facts and took a face first dive into the healing waters.
Then went to the clinic and used the scale to weigh in. Now I am 161 pounds. That makes 55 pounds lost scince Feb. SUPER STOKED!!!

Plaidman! Glad to hear that you got the epic over. (I hate to read that you are starting home tonight, vs celebrating.)
Congrats to Ian and all that helped to make Plaidman's dream happen!

Really? I don't remember that part. I will have to re-read his book.
What I meant was that at every twist and turn of this trip I was getting really good stuff. kinda like the universe was giving me gift after gift in learning, the pure pleasure of being on that big face for so long. Even providing bsnow to make water and friends to lower some from the top when I really needed it. I was drinking a liter a day for 4 days before my supply got re-stocked.
By the way I have pulled over at a rest area to sleep near Redding. Sleep is good.

Thx Bro! The climbing we did omn Leaning Tower and the pitches I did on Lurking FeR this last June were invaluable. Thanks for all the support and the daily check ups on my progress.
But the best was when you called me from Europe to congradulate me on my success.
Thanks it really hit the sweet spot. Can't wait to sit down with ya and go over the details.
Almost home just 3 more hours of driving.

Plaidman, was in line behind you at Camp 4 the Sunday you arrived in September for Facelift. Thought of you during the shutdown....and the storms. You told me about the weight loss program, a story in itself. Events political and personal swirled and now your story is for the ages. My birthday is in Dec, I'm one month younger than you. Was a wonderful chat waiting in line and now two months later I remember feeling light and free after reserving my site. The next moment I was warmly welcomed at site 35 by tribal brethren Anders and Plaidman with his wheelbarrow.

It was good talking with ya. Had an extended adventure. I was in the Valley or at the enterance for 6 weeks. I'm writting up the TR now.
The wheel barrow was donated by my boss/climbing partner. We left it at Camp 4 for all climbers to use and enjoy.
I will be back in the spring. End of May early June for another round of Big Wall. I think I will try it with a partner this time.

ProudPlaid!
I just caught up with this thread.
Well done!!!!
And to your lovely wife as well!!!!
(damned, I've forgotten her name)
Was great to see you both again at FLift.
And yeah......trying something new and somewhat complex when you're "at the end of your rope" is definitely a way to Take The Big One!

Yeah I beat the crap outta that rabbit as he passed by for the 10th time.
I was a little embarassed as to how long it was taking me to do the route. But then I realiezed how much I was enjoying my time on the wall.
Thanks man for the kudos. As I write up the trip report I am just enjoying the trip that much more.
By the way my wifes name is Ronda. She is sure glad to have me home after me being gone for 6 weeks. Got to make some money now so I can go to Hyalite In Montana this Jan. for some ice climbing for a week! Whaa Hoo!

UPDATE!!!
Just got back from Dr. turns out that the hip flexer I thought was straine turned out to be a hernia. It will require surgury. Lucky I got insurance. Even with this injury I have no regrets. This climb was still one of my favorite times EVER!!!
Hope the recovery wont hinder my trip to Hyalite.
