Just thought this deserved it's own thread since there is a lot of speculation, reaction and fear circulating regarding the subject.

Just curious to get some feedback from the community regarding your concern/lack thereof about any of the following subjects:

Radiation and beemageddon, frogmageddon, etc.

Fukushima fall-out and the real effect on the Americas and other continents.

The effect on the fisheries and consumers

Prevention, cures, etc.

I realize there may be some divergence in perspectives, all are welcome.

I continue to be more worried about Mercury than radiation from Fukushima. However, if I was a bee I'd be very worried about being eaten by a tuna.

oh wait!

post worthless without a piece of the disinformation campaign.

Edit: keep this up and I'm adding you to my greasemonkey script, buddy!

What is the sum of Chernoble + Fukushima + 3Mile Island + Nevada Testing + SL-1 + K-19 + K-27 + K431 ?

First step at addressing this here.

we live in a sea of ionizing radiation...

cosmic rays zip in from outer space, interact in the atmosphere, interact with the ground...

at energies high enough to be ionizing, the atmospheric radiation has a flux of 1 per square centimeter per second... so assuming a 1.5 m x .5 meter cross section for a human, that's something like 7500 per seconds ionizing the stuff in your body....

and the stuff that hits the ground makes neutrons by breaking up the nuclei, and those neutrons come rumbling out and get you too...

radon, a noble gas produced by the natural uranium and thorium in the crust diffuses out and collects in basements...

nothing new here, it's been happening for ever, yet life abounds. Half of our radiation exposure, 3.10 millisieverts, comes from natural sources which we can't do anything about. The other half mostly comes from medical procedures using radiation (CT scans and nuclear medicine) something like 3.00 millisieverts.
