It is just astonishing how travel on snow becomes so incredibly egotistical. You go up and then you come down. Everything else is just details.

Give me one example performance wise that telemark or snowboard gear is superior in performance to alpine gear.

One of the reasons I enjoy tele gear is that it allows me to get my center of gravity (and my head) lower than I can on alpine gear. I like skiing trees, and I like skiing under and through trees to get to untouched glades. That ability makes me happy. Work for you?

Tele: Norwegian for "Hey, wait for me!"

Sorry for the thread drift but I wanted to participate.

What everyone said about TGR.

I AT but ski with both teliers and snowboarders. It's all good.

Any word on whether there's enough snow to ski on in the Wasatch yet?

NICE!! Nice dog-ski! Thanks for the report. Kinda echos what I have heard..

My old buddy and his wife from MSO are partnered with another couple and they run the joint and well you know, it is so damned far to drive so I just haven't made it yet ;^)

I will be making it up there this year for sure for a fun stay. This winter, my skating friends and I are planning to rent the lodge one weekend for some high-heart-ratin', air chuggin fun followed by some turmeric laden Indian dishes!

Oh, your PS is Coo! The SiSSyStix really put some ooomph in the TRIP when you are OUT eh?! I always like looking up and seeing the 'kaleidoscope sky' when I stop! DIG!

I can understand that spoiled gig...but I have done longish trips(Seeley Lubrecht) when our in-town skating isn't happening.

Yeah, knowledgeable groomers are key. Anything Reid(one of the other partners) does is pretty much done right, if not from the get-go for sure by 2nd or 3rd time!

See you up there!

It is all good, love both tele and alpine, just another excuse to be in the hills.
Waiting for winter up here, 50 degrees and 100 mph winds yesterday.

Depends on your perspective. I got in a day on the 17th, had snow from the trailhead, but very bony. Today is the first new snow since, and temps appear to have turned the corner. Another storm expected early next week, but I don't know how much moisture is expected. Could get good enough soon.

All this arguing over the best way down the hill is silly since I'll be waiting back at the chair for all u gorby's while shredding on my new telemark snowboard. Best technology of all worlds, free-heel snowboarding is the future bitches, im telling ya! It cuts down on propulsionary drag & increases symmetrical torsion, creating maximum g force when cranking out turns in the corn during rockclimbing season. Way cooler than whatever u think is cool fer sure lol!
