Utopia, you say?
I'd settle for more climbing content.

Maybe a better way to put it is a 1 month ban on attacking and/or nonconstructive comments while still having the ability to post constructive criticism comments.

Nature- Ha.
Munge- I think it would lead to a ton more climbing content. 80% of the current OT commentary would be off limits.
Jaybro- No. reason isn't denial. compromise isn't apathy
nrockclimber- Wow, what a great example of positive feedback!
J-tree- Absolutely. I don't think constructive critisism is negative at all.

"...a constructive bit of advise to help them."
C not S---just helping out. :)
Building not razing. I get it.
There are several posters here who would follow this advice, but like the farce too much. They won't shut up, either.
"You can't make me, because it's a free internet."
I know, because I am one of them, to an extent, though I am trying to control that impulsive "post it now before some other clown does" attitude.
Just like you can't prevent a dude from nailing a free pitch if he's such an azzhat that he feels it necessary, you can't dictate to the immature youth--they won't listen--or the ancient teenager--who's seen it all--or suggest things which make life better.
Ignore the rules of societal engagement on the personal, face-to-face level with the rock, though, and see how upset these same dooshetards become.

That is a very interesting analogy. There does seem to be an incredible importance to treat the rock and the outdoors in general with a respect that we do not give eachother even when it causes harm.

"Ban"....not a good word to use in the world's oldest democracy. The First Amendment should have more fans than the Second.

Promise? I've heard this Pollyanna stuff before. Stifling and self censoring, free speech to sound "good" and sweep unpleasant realities under the rug, serves Nobody!
Politeness is cool, though, usually...
