(this is a repost because I missed the T in his name and you can't edit a thread title)

I just learned via Facebook that Mitch has passed. He leaves behind his wife Sarah and two beautiful young sons.

Mitch was one of my first climbing partners in the early 90s and were Buddy Werner ski teammates. In 99 we climbed the Shield together.

He was a firefighter in Lake Tahoe, a man with many...many friends. An amazing soul, a real live hero.

I'm at a loss for words. I'm sorry to pass this news along to anyone who knew him.

Huge condolences. I climbed with him one day last winter... strong, nice, cute doggies, an all around pleasant guy to be around. One of those good folks I looked forward to running into again. Very sad.

My condolences to Mitch's family and friends.

I climbed and hung out with Mitch a handful of times and was alway blown away by his ability, inspiring! He gave off such a sincere vibe, really humble dude. I feel honored to have known him.

Knowing Sarah only casually and meeting Mitch just one time I cant' stop thinking about how horrible this is. What a tragic loss for Sarah, their family and all the dear friends who cared so much, I imagine healing will be slow and difficult.

I'm absolutely blown away on the website that was built in his honor and so quickly. What a great way to remember a loved one, share stories, images and mourn together. Really terrific idea and loving the images already posted- I'm sure the blog will be very touching as well.

My deepest condolences to the family, loss is just so damn hard.

Thanks for posting the link Susan.

And sorry if any bodies thoughtful post got deleted in the first thread, but I couldn't leave it up there with his name typo'd! sheesh

Life life to the fullest folks...it can end in the blink of an eye. I'm reading to my kids a little longer, hugging them a little tighter since Mitch's boys lost their dad. :(

Much Love to his family and friends. May fond memories of him warm your heart.
I remember being a total novice and attending a rock climbing course through LTCC at pie shop just a couple years ago. I watched Mitch free solo a slew of routes there, while wishing that one day I could do that. He inspired me to set that goal and next time i'm at pie shop i will solo crepe's corner while thinking of him.

Crepes Corner was my first outdoor rock climb. With Mitch and Ryan Shreve. '89 or '90

lambone you'll be pleased to know
that the m.c. at last night's Tahoe Film Festival
gave a very nice, respectful and praising salute
to our fallen friend, Mitch.

The festival began with a film that Mitch
made of himself and a friend descending Whitney on ski's.

It was obvious that he positively affected much of the Tahoe community.

I lived on the West Shore from 1992 to 1999 and started climbing in 1993. I don't recall ever formally meeting him, but he certainly looks very familiar to me. Whether I actually met him or not, this is certainly very sad. RIP.
